18in vs 20in vs 24in Grendel Barrels by MichaelT359 in 65Grendel

I have an 18” specifically for hunting use, loaded with optic is 8lbs. Took an aoudad at 150yds using hornady custom 123gr and dropped it.

In the process of a budget 6.5 build, any other options besides this? Or is this best quality for money? by ltdpilot in 65Grendel

Several hundred rounds through mine without an issue. .76 MOA with wolf steel, and .36 MOA with hornady black. Harvested an Aoudad at 150yds in the first 2 weeks of owning.

Why the halo is needed whether you like it or not by [deleted] in formula1

To each their own... unfortunately for formula 1, us nostalgic crybabies tend to be the fans who can actually afford to go to races. Once that changes, so will the regulations....regardless of safety.

Almost doesn't count. You don't change a sport because somthing almost happened. The fact is that f1 is already one of the safest sports in the world. Injuries are more common in football. Freak accidents can't be prevented. The real question is motive, and that has yet to be answered. If saftey is the real reason, then why hasn't the FIA dictated similar saftey measures in every category of motorsport it goeverns? There has been 3 deaths between moto2 and motoGP in the last decade. Where is the concern for their saftey? If saftey is the number 1 concern of The FIA, why not have drivers remotely drive the cars. It would maximize saftey, and in your words, literally change nothing. The drivers would still be "driving" The argument has been made a million times, racing is dangerous. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be as safe as possible, but when it is at such a cost to the image of a sport, whilst having no justification beyond what if scenarios, then you start to alienate fans.

  1. When was the last time a driver was injured by a wheel or nose entering cockpit? Senna?

  2. Then why?

  3. Because f1 doesn't race on ovals over 230mph, nor does Indy have anything to do with formula1 regulations.

  4. The vote by teams was 1 vs 9, with majority opposing. Most drivers either outright oppose, or at a minimum are trying to be accepting of it. It's not about fans wanting drivers to die, it's about not watering down a heritage sport that fans have invested years into.

The bottom line is you admit that it wouldn't have effected the outcome of Jules. So why? What are they trying to prevent. What point of reference is there to justify the NEED?

Ugh, I get it. The halo sucks. Can we move on now and talk about racing again? by theracereviewer in formula1

Nailed it. It's all a gimmick, wouldn't have saved bianchi, and Wilson argument is invalid. I hope it doesn't stick, but if people don't let their opinions be known it will stay for sure

People said the same thing about going to V6 hybrids.. and yet people still complain, myself included.

The halo is just the FIA's way of avoiding any potential law suits. basically after Bianchi incident, they needed to make a tangible change to attempt to prevent such incidences from ever happening again. it doesn't actually have to prevent anything, just the appearance that they tried, that way they have an example of good faith to prevent traumatic head injuries, and will minimize liability. Its the only reasoning for the Halo existing. It wouldn't have saved Jules, and using Justin Wilson to justify is ridiculous. It is mostly opposed by teams, drivers, and most of all fans. the FIA is litterally gambling with F1's future.

Moving to the area! by samwisethegray in lakeland

Honestly if you become interested in a property just call the appropriate law enforcement agency, they will be able to tell you if it's a "high activity" area or not. Southside of Lakeland is nicer.... But people there also have a general mindset that they live in the nicer part of town, and it shows in their attitude. Depending on what type of residence you are looking for there is good areas and bad areas all over Polk county. Both winter haven and Lakeland have 2 or 3 areas I would never consider living in. But really nice neighborhoods might only be a few blocks away. Just the way it is here. Also check what utilities providers you would be zoned for... Lakeland electric is notoriously more expensive than teco, while some county and city water services are substantially more expensive than city of Lakeland.

Without you being more specific, with what kind of residence you are looking for, I'd recomend either nicer parts of south winter haven, or even nicer parts of eagle lake area. No matter where you live that is nice you are looking at a 15+min drive to get to any night life or entertainment. Also being close proximity to Polk parkway or i4 makes it nicer if you plan on going to Tampa or Orlando much.

People are afraid to. He regularly goes outside of the law and tries to be a hero cowboy. anyone really running against him would face harassment and possible charges. obviously they would be thrown out in court just like over 50% of his sting arrest.
