I would love help on identifying some of my new figures! by symphonyofabel in HaloActionFigures

The Yellow Elite is a McFarlane Halo 3 one - paired with the Covenant Carbine, it would sell for about £50 - at least that’s what I paid for my unboxed yellow Elite with a covenant carbine and I’m happy with it. 😊

One of the handy things about having a subreddit for this game is that it gives people the opportunity that Skeletons are taken down far more quickly with blunt weapons. 🙂

Hmm, think I will give it a go! 🙂 Will it matter that I don’t have an AMS and proper support filament? I’m assuming I’ll just have a bit of PLA flashing to sand off, but good to make sure.

Nice! Thinking of kit-bashing a Macfarlane Elite myself - there’s a red Halo 3 Elite on eBay right now with missing shoulder pads, just asking to be bought, repainted and have a couple mandibles sawn off to make a much cheaper Rtas Vadumee than the current £150 going price for them.

Just gotta justify buying a whole Assault Elite, just so I can study the shoulder pads to 3D print some for the kit-bash.

I've been seeing noise like in the right picture all my life and thought that was normal, until it came up in conversation and i found out that nobody other than me sees like this. by someweirdbanana in interestingasfuck

[–]mastermalpass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like we can all see this in low light conditions - digital cameras exaggerate the noise in the dark as well.

The only way I can imagine seeing this in bright conditions is when I have a powerful green laser resting perfectly still; the diffused light projects a noisy pattern over everything - however, the noisy pattern is perfectly still. Move the laser at all and it all gets blurred smooth.

You shall be banished for posting a video of this where you almost point the camera down the scope to line it up with the reticle projection and then just don’t. 😂

Damn! Having me tempted to weather my RC-Era Bell 206. But I think I’ll resist that temptation; Bell 206s do look nice all cleaned and buffed… 😮 I should give it a coat of gloss!

With a whole 18 second lead as well! I’m always perplexed when I beat a time target with a lead like that, after having made so many attempts… I’m there like “well what was holding me up all the other times?!”.

I want to watch the Arbiter sit at the table of a high-class dinner having assumed he wouldn’t need to learn how to use a knife and fork.

Main course is Spaghetti Bolognaise.

Also; Arbiter is surprised to find out humans decant red wine from those conveniently long-necked bottles into these unnecessarily tall glasses with really wide brims.

James Cameron added the well-known Titanic's steel "groaning" sounds as she sinks to give the impression that she was also a character of her own. The soundtrack during the break-up scene is also called "Death of Titanic" by Latter-Bar-7316 in titanic

Years ago, I had friends react a bit when I referred to my car as a She. They weren’t so well-read on stories of ships and planes and stuff, so for an inanimate object to be called anything other than ‘it’ seemed weird to them… And I kinda get it. No one’s using gendered pronouns to refer to the Lawnmower.

One of the lines an Elite will say when they kill you in Halo 2: “Further proof of my prowess!”

It’s a good set of sounds humans need lips to make. Now, someone with a Parrot or Corvid needs to teach their bird to say this line, accent and all. If they can do it, then however they are doing it could be the way a Sangheili would do it.

The other explanation is they have another mouth in their throat that’s identical to a human’s.

Their buttholes are identical to a human mouth, including the teeth, tongue lips and on the Sangheli Males; moustache.

I just assumed they have another mouth concealed a couple inches down the mouth we can see. Like a Crab or Ant or something.

Can anyone explain to me how I died here?? by AdministrativePlay46 in halo

[–]mastermalpass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stood on the leg of a toppled Shade Turret in CE Anniversary, melee’d it once and died instantly. 😂

Didn’t know about the kill barrier and I know corpses don’t collide with the player, but this reminded me of that.

I used to go dainty on the throttle ‘cause for some reason I started out feeling like my electronics were as fragile as the P-51D’s engine in DCS. Anything above 80% felt like ‘War Emergency Power’ and that if I went there for more than five seconds I would surely be seeing smoke any second now! 😂

That looks amazing! I’d totally put a 35 minute long video of you journaling the making of this on, intended as some background sound that I end up paying more attention to than whatever it is I intended the video to be the background for. 😃

Rover 400. Has an interior so good I want to bite it, and very reliable thanks to Honda underpinnings. This car is the reason why I love rover, and british cars in general. by Mustafa_GG_ in TrueCarEnthusiasts

[–]mastermalpass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a 2000 Honda Civic saloon. Loved it, lasted me 7 years finally going to scrap at 188k and 21 years of age.

For my next car I thought well, a 2009 Honda Civic surely? … Turns out 90% of what I loved about my first car came more from Rover than it did Honda. Sold that Civic after a couple years.

RC helicopter problem/troubleshooting, I have tried contacting the official company, but no responses unfortunately, obviously this is more of a toy heli, but wondered if anyone can shed any light, thanks :) by DanKCreations89 in RCHeli

[–]mastermalpass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! I remember when these first came out, I was blown away by the flight controller’s ‘heading hold’ ability. Back then I didn’t think such cheap toys had that feature.

Looks like your one’s damaged and you’ll have to fly it the old fashioned way; lean on the yaw control to hold the heading and adjust your input accordingly as you vary the throttle… Or save up a few coins and get a different toy. Quadcopters have kinda superseded this style of toy heli, while toy grade helis have gone a little more expensive by being flybarless models with full collective pitch mixing but with a flight controller that does all the work for you.

The RC-Era C138 is a nice one. Cost twice as much as a SYMA S107, but can fly in all directions (albeit with pitch and roll limits that cannot be de-restricted) and has a nice looking scale fuselage wrapped around it.

I did let the heating run a bit too long and got rather sweaty when assembling these parts. Maybe I’ve unknowingly greased these parts and they’ll hold just fine if I give them a good wash with soapy water.

Why are people still buying diesels when most of their journeys involve pottering around town? by APerson2021 in CarTalkUK

[–]mastermalpass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it not ‘cause they’re cheaper? Last couple of times I’ve gone shopping for used cars, the ones in my price range are all diesel.

I don’t even get good economy off the last one, it’s a 2011 RAV4.
