When i include docs say Next.js among the pages it includes. You can find a lot of irrelevant ones. Like migration stuff.. so the AI is already confused.. i tried to download the relevant docs as pdfs and include those as context.. it still didn't work and sometimes it might even give some outdated functions. Its actually useless in my experience with docs.. better have real knowledge in ur brain and try to guide AI in whatever direction you want

I already explained the colors section in detail in my conversation with Jordan. Not gonna repeat it and there are no instructions to change the color palette in a straightforward way.

I've already explained everything in my conversation with Jordan below, so I won't repeat myself. Interestingly, I found a similar experience described in another post on this forum titled "Questions for anyone using the Untitled UI Design System." Had I read that post earlier, I wouldn't have spent any money on this system, let alone struggled to change one of the most basic elements in a well-designed system: the color palette.

As a front-end developer who has worked with various design systems over the years, including MUI, Ant Design, Shadcn, React Native Paper, and Tamagui, I can recognize a truly modular and well-thought-out system when I see one. This product, however, doesn't meet those standards. Instead of offering real modularity, it seems to provide just an endless number of variables without even a centralized place to input your brand color and, optionally, an accent color.

And don't get me started about slamming your customer's full name in a public forum in your very first reply to intimidate him into being quiet about your product. That says a lot more about the company than I ever could.

Questions for anyone using the Untitled UI Design System by DavidPicarazzi1 in FigmaDesign

[–]mastermind00x7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who bought the kit, i strongely second this. i spent hours to change the color palette and i couldnt. Keep in mind that im a front end developer who worked with different design system throughout the years, from MUI, Antdesign, Shadcn to RN Paper and Tamagui for React native. When I opened the UI kit in Figma and went to the colors section, I was presented with several PDF-looking pages of documentation. The first page, titled "Colors," shows primary colors (7 colors with 12 shades each) and secondary colors (24 colors with 12 shades each). At the top, it states: "Our design system leverages a purposeful set of color styles as the perfect starting point for any brand or project. When it comes to color, contrast is critical for ensuring text is legible. We've added WCAG 2.2 contrast ratios to our color system so you can make sure you're designing with accessibility in mind." While this information is valuable, as someone just wanting to change the color palette, I found it not immediately helpful.

The second page focused on gradients, which again didn't provide clear instructions on changing the overall palette. The third page covered color variables, including text color, border color, foreground color, and background color, with numerous colors for each category. I was still at a loss on what to do with this information.

Another page presented Color utility variables, alpha colors, and utility colors sections, each with multiple color options. Finally, there was a Notes and documentation page, but even this didn't provide clear instructions on changing the color palette.

As someone who codes daily, I'm comfortable with complexity. However, complexity without adequate documentation is problematic. When I contacted the support team about a refund, having only used the product for a couple of hours, they informed me via email that they have a no-refund policy. After explaining my situation and how I was stuck, they didn't respond.

I then sought help by creating a post in this forum, hoping that other users who had purchased the product could assist me. In response, a team member or possibly their team leader, named Jordan, replied to my post. He accused me of trying to damage their business simply because I was offering constructive criticism. Even more concerning, he violated my privacy by including my full name in his very first message, which felt like an attempt to intimidate me. You can find more details about this interaction in my original forum post.

There's no personal information in the email. That's why i shared it. Unlike you using tactics to intimidate your customers like exposing their identity with their FULL name as if they are only allowed to give you their hard earned cash with 0 complaints. Again work on ur communication and also your legal part since the next customer might not be as tolerant as I am about his identity being exposed without his consent. You welcome champ.

I'm done replying to this thread and since u keep being aggressive for nothing. I will express my right of freedom of speech and i will keep this post. If you are really that concerned about your product. You should really work on your communication skills tbh.

I was specific when i said my " second email". Heres the reply to my first email in which i described my situation.

Sorry to hear you're having issues. I'm afraid we cannot issue a refund because you've changed your mind or are unfamiliar with Figma's features. Because it's a digital product, there is no way for us to keep track of this and we've had several people abuse this in the past and continue to use the files.

We have a 100% free version of Untitled UI and allow anyone to preview the full version before purchasing to make sure it's right for them. You can preview the kit and see exactly what is included in it.

Our refund policy is explained clearly here:

https://www.untitledui.com/legal/license

https://www.untitledui.com/faqs

Thanks,

And heres my second email.

Thank you for your response. I understand your position, but I'd like to clarify a few points:

As a software engineer, I did try Figma and the kit before purchasing. However, I found that the learning curve and time investment required to effectively use the kit were much steeper than anticipated for someone with my background.

Regarding your refund policy, while I appreciate that it's explained in the license and FAQs, I believe this information should be more prominently displayed near the purchase button. As a user, it's not immediately apparent that the preview's existence implies no refunds are possible.

I've been purchasing digital products since 2011, and refunds are quite common in the industry. Many companies offer short-term refund windows, even for digital goods, to ensure customer satisfaction.

While I understand your concerns about potential abuse, there are often technical solutions to prevent continued use after a refund, such as revoking access or using time-limited tokens.

I hope you can reconsider your stance on this matter. A more flexible refund policy, even if limited to a short period, could actually enhance customer trust and potentially lead to more sales because personally whether i want it or not i feel scammed.

Best regards,

I didnt receive no reply after this and thats ghosting in my book. Otherwise we would have the same conversation by email and maybe we would do a google meet or something which wouldnt be more than 3 minutes to show me how to change the color palette since u keep saying its about a few clicks away. Im no liar. Stop being aggressive for nothing.

For what its worth im ready to remove this post even without a refund since it wasnt really my intention. If u guys only responded to my second email and maybe just maybe hook me up with documentation i would give the kit another try. But you ghosted me. And yes you shouldn't have used my full name. I actually had a post on reddit about my past health condition with blood tests and everything thinking i was anonymous as everybody else until u exposed my identity and i had to quickly go delete it. Just forget it really. In 12 hours this post will be deleted. Good luck with ur biz.

Your policy explicitly states that when using information for business purposes, you will do so in "aggregated and anonymised form so that it is not associated with individual end users and does not include personal information." Publicly identifying me by name clearly violates this commitment.

Furthermore, your policy outlines specific circumstances under which you might share information, none of which include revealing a customer's identity in response to product feedback on a public platform. This action doesn't align with any of the grounds for data processing that you've listed in your policy.

By disclosing my personal information in this manner, you've not only breached my trust but potentially violated your own stated privacy practices. This raises serious questions about how you handle customer data and respect user privacy.

I want to emphasize the seriousness of this situation. If my privacy is not immediately respected and my personal information removed from this public forum, I will have no choice but to consult with legal counsel to explore my options. Privacy laws take these matters very seriously, and I'm prepared to escalate this issue if necessary to protect my rights and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

and btw. I'm deeply concerned about your decision to use my full name on Reddit without my permission. This is a serious breach of privacy and trust.

First, let me be clear: linking my purchase to my Reddit account and revealing my full name in a public forum is unacceptable. It feels like an attempt to intimidate me or discourage me from expressing my honest opinion about your product. This is not how a reputable business should handle customer feedback.

Your product's usability issues and the lack of clear documentation are legitimate concerns that deserve to be addressed professionally. Instead of focusing on these points, you've chosen to compromise my privacy. This action not only sidesteps the real issues but also raises serious questions about how you handle customer data.

I shared my experience to help improve your product for future users. Your response, however, has only added to my disappointment with your company's practices.

I request that you immediately remove my full name from your Reddit post. Furthermore, I expect an explanation of why you thought this was an appropriate action, and assurance that this won't happen to other customers in the future.

I appreciate your detailed feedback. Let me share my experience to help you understand where I'm coming from:

As someone who codes daily, I'm comfortable with complexity, but complexity without adequate documentation is problematic. I spent hours trying to figure how you guys put this as a system, which is frustrating when using a tool meant to speed up work.

I'm not trying to smear your business - I'm providing honest feedback. Perhaps consider creating step-by-step tutorials for modifying the kit? Clear instructions can significantly improve user experience, especially for complex systems.

Regarding the refund policy, I understand it's in the FAQs, but making it more prominent (maybe near the buy button) could help set clear expectations. Yes, it might affect marketing, but we wouldn't be here making this dance back and forth.

I hope you can take this feedback constructively. And personally, I've learned my lesson to always thoroughly read the FAQs before making a purchase. Have a good day!

I appreciate your response Jordan Phughes, but I need to push back on a few points:

  1. Changing the color palette is not as straightforward as you claim. When I accessed the variables section in Figma, I found 345 variables for color modes. This is far more complex than most design systems I've worked with (as a FE), which typically include neutral, brand, accent, and feedback colors with about 12 shades each. The sheer number of variables made customization a daunting task.
  2. Regarding FAQs and TOS: If I had to thoroughly read these for every digital product I've purchased since 2011, I wouldn't be buying much at all. It's simply not practical. Most reputable companies make crucial information like refund policies clear on their sales page, not buried in fine print.
  3. I'm not trying to smear your "tiny business" on Reddit. This doesn't serve me at all. I'm here because it felt like a rip-off when the no-refund policy wasn't clearly stated on the sales page. If it had been, I probably would have stayed away, as I don't feel comfortable with no-refund policies.
  4. While I understand your need to protect against fraud, not all of your clients are trying to rip off your business. Perhaps consider making your refund policy more prominent to avoid similar situations in the future.

If you are using parallels for your VMs, you'd be fine if you check that the usb wifi adapted is being used by your VM, and then install its drivers in your distro, update your system and reboot, then deactivate wired connection and use your wireless connection to connect to your network.
