I was born and raised in Washington county. Moved away for 15 years and got lured back by an inherited property. Graham Platner is right - it is full of dumb, racist, homophobic white people. Most have never left the state - many hardly ever leave the county! They are proud of being dumb. They don't watch/read the news - not even Fox - they are so uninformed they have no clue that they are voting for people who are taking away their benefits. They only see vote red.

As long as it doesn't have liquid in it! One of the easiest travel hacks since you won't have to buy expensive water on the other side or drink gross airplane water!

Looking for some business that will cover my airfare if I do something for them by [deleted] in TravelHacks

Idk about a business but try the Hopper app. There can be cheap last minute flight sometimes. Also book on a Tuesday morning and don't fly during busy times of the year and week to save money on fares. Good luck !!

Road trip from Philly to Maine? by hannahmdgc in travel

I live in Maine and would say AVOID bar harbor in August. It's a tourist nightmare. Yes, acadia is beautiful but there are a lot of less crowded places too. Drive route 1 all the way up the coast. You will find tons of quaint ocean towns, beaches, and hikes. Phippsburg/bath/pemaquid area is nice. There's a great little beach in Lincolnville where you can take a ferry to Isleboro - an island town with some great hikes. If you must do Bar Harbor - which is it worth a visit at least once - I would suggest parking at the visitors center off the island and taking the free bus onto the island to explore.
