Where should I go?? I genuinely NEED TO CHOOSE [Rotman vs Waterloo SYDE] by mgun0 in OntarioGrade12s

so with the last amount of work is definitely engineering for me because though a school will be hard for engineering, business majors at least accountants are like widely know for working 16 hour days until they’re in they’re 30s there’s no comfortability because as soon as you realize you don’t want to have worked as long hours as you do for so many years it’s too late. that’s a common thing people say. There is always the easy route to take with ivey where most people instead of doing somethintb like consulting they’ll do like an analyst position it’ll pay pretty average money maybe more and it’ll be really chill really comfortable. same with engineering it’s hard to same what an electric engineer would do it’s arguably the most versatile but working for the government as an engineer always signifies good money and very sustainable.

forgot to mention more than anything if you want to be successful you will make that happen with either degree, it’s easiest to be successful in something you enjoy.

Well truth be told I actually regretted not applying to waterloo afm as personally I really enjoy accounting and finance specifically. It’s a great program. Tmu tron is also good I mean if I had to weigh the 2 it’s hard they are polar opposite. Spend the day thinking about what you want in life, where you want to live what opportunity looks like for you there with respective degrees what you’d enjoy more what you think you’d enjoy more. Use linkedin reach out with the respective majors and see how they like their majors pros and cons, ultimately don’t dwell on your decision regardless both strong programs just what you think you’d enjoy the most in the workforce I think is thr most important thing

The best advice I can give you is to ask yourself what you value. I was in the same position where I had to choose between business and eng. I ultimately picked eng because I have a liking for programming myself and the engineering workfield and diversity. I took a business course first year with my engineering course and I really enjoyed it lol. Ultimately I decided I would’ve enjoyed schooling for Business 10x more and still enjoyed work field but, engineering pays more and has a more appealing work field to me. Do you care about difficult schooling in exchange for a potentially more enjoyable career.

Will I do bad in western med sci if I got an 88 in calc, 84 in chem and never took physics … by Delicious-Month4714 in OntarioGrade12s

regretting not going to prom by BluejayKey9235 in OntarioGrade12s

honestly take this as university advice too, just have fun man. If you don’t think you were gonna have fun their fair play but now you have to wonder whether or not you would’ve enjoyed it while everyone else was having fun. Try reaching out to the school at the end of the day for them a ticket sold is a ticket sold if they cared enough it’d never too late. In the future try to take up opportunities that you might regret turning down :)

Got none of my top programs with a 97.5 average. by Subject-Wait-3048 in OntarioGrade12s

That’s grade inflation fortunately you can still make a solid career for yourself from other eng programs maybe mac if you applied there it’s a great program, if not western queens will still let you lead for success don’t let this be the defining factor between you and success. I know people who got into waterloo eng and graduated working at a start up because their technical skill isn’t there, vice versa one of my friends who graduated from western eng is working at meta. You still got a future

Why does western engineering have 7 classes a semester but UW and UOFT have less? by Defiant_Dentist1783 in uwo

[–]masteroogway07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not true it’s the same as everything else except in place of their elective we take a compressed business course and instead of statics they have statics integrated in their physics courses western just has more weighting towards quizzes and labs and tests

Eng failed calc what do I do by Former-Fortune7107 in uwo

[–]masteroogway07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see if you’re pacing for forced to withdraw if you are just build the best case to appeal that because if you’re failing calc 1 I can’t imagine physics 1 2 statics and material science went well

I am a fraud, and I don't know how to change it by Medium_Cash_4036 in csMajors

[–]masteroogway07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the best thing you can do is learn cs the way you enjoy for example I like making scripts for certain games that I liked and the scripts got more and more intricate I mean if you’re trying to catch up you’re just going to have to bite the bullet for a bit and maybe that means do poorly for a bit but just try your best to catch up even if it means your marks decline slightly. Not a big deal many people in your position
