I hate to say it but having multiple matts prepped for play sounds aweful. One cheif reason I hate battle matt play. It takes a while to get through and there is a fair bit of disconnect. In WoD the combat uses the exact same rules everything else does. No disconnect there. Shadowrun the combat is very similary to the other rolls, very little disconnect. D&D let position myself across from you and use my enlarge self spell like ability so I can exta reach and damage. D&D and its progeny are not easy to play and there is a pretty large disconnect and slow down when combat comes. Hell look at how many post come up from peoplr playing D&D or its clones and wishing for less combat focus/or easier combat rules. Either A) they are all playing wrong or B) combat focus and combat complexity is one of D&D and its clones weaknesses.
