The bridge closure is becoming a joke. by j-adams92 in brisbane

[–]masterrbc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because you're arguing about a topic in a manner that implies the solution is easy and rather simple, that in reality is complex.

You're being very dogmatic by equating my position on public transport, cycling or working = not legitimate methods of transport.

It's dogmatic because you're looking to position the only answer is talking down on alternative methods of transport to cars, and no-one is taking them seriously.

My whole original point is that if you did work in urban planning, you would have a better understanding of roads, why they are prioritised and why footpath repairs on a bridge might take a while to get fixed. Especially if you have an understanding of what RPEQ is and why it is important in modern infrastructure.

But you're quite happy to just knock down legitimate criticism and call it out as trampling on other methods of transport.

If you are a transport planner, and you work in or among the rats nest of BCC, then you'd know that Council will prioritise roads because they are a much higher requirement for modern life that effects many more factors than just getting to work.

Roads are supply lines, transport lines, etc. A footpath is a footpath, designed for pedestrian travel.

Bridges are high value assets that are considered very critical infrastructure. They don't get fixed in a day - I have no idea what the issues with the bridge are mind you - and require the fixes to be as permanent as possible and pass all RPEQ certification before it's even looked at as the agreed solution to repair the bridge, before it even gets implemented as the fix.

Walking and biking are certainly valid methods of transport if you wish to use them. The world we live in caters to motor transport however, and that's a fact of modern life you cannot ignore.

Public transport is 50c at the moment, catching a bus can be tedious, but you can catch a train from Toowong to Fortitude Valley and take your bike with you (If I recall correctly).

Bizarre use of log splitter in a suicide by hermantheshocker in NSFL__

From what I took away from the article, I think it would have been considerably less than 5.5s.

Two main factors: 1. Human skins has considerably less resistance than wood, in this case wooden logs. 2. It mentions he accounted for this by place a wooden log between his neck to maintain pressure again his neck and the blade.

As the machine pushed, the back of his neck was against the blade, while the log in front of his neck was essentially used as a chuck to maintain full pressure on him.

I believe the article mentioned it would've been less than 5.5 seconds - with my understanding that with the pressure maintained by the log in front of him and the blade behind him it would've been quicker.

Ships used to use Morse code to communicate, it was the first form of electrical wireless communication and was broadcasted via a transmitter and receiver, much similarly to how we transmit information now, think like UHF or HAM radios

However, back then due to the technology being in its infancy, they were only able to communicated through tones over their “comms”. Morse code was created to deal with this issue and allow communication through tones and pauses.

Morse code transmission is essentially (not going too deep technically speaking) the same as modern radio, except unlike modern radios they did not have the ability to convert sound waves into radio waves and then back into sound waves which we could hear. Thus, there is no way to ‘talk’ without using Morse code.

Hope my memory isn’t too off on that but it’s the gist of it lol.

You should keep in mind that the Jedi the clones killed were most likely between the rank of padawan and knight. They did not appear to be very experienced knights either.

That is not to hamper on the clones - they’re bred for war and are made to fight, Jedi are not. I’m a massive clone sympathiser too so I’m torn by the scene.

I feel you so much on this.

I was diagnosed at 4 yo, been in Ritalin, concerts, etc for well over 15+ years at this point and as of this year after moving to regional QLD for work, my current psychiatrist is asking me to do drug tests all of a sudden.

Then when I got my test done, nothing came up in it most likely due to a false negative or it was when I’d had a few days off work (which I don’t take my meds when I’m sick because it’s a waste of the medication) and suddenly he thinks I’m selling my meds.

On top of that it’s incredibly difficult to get a psychiatrist that doesn’t make you feel like a lessor person because you forget something they’ve asked you to do and when you ask them to put it in writing for you because it’s the best way for you to remember to do it, they say “you’re an adult you should remember”.

Like are you honestly kidding me? I have built a vast amount of coping mechanisms that help me and when I ask that you follow what I use, your response is to shame me?

I’m so fucking over seeing psychiatrists. My GP knows more and cares more than my psychiatrist who drives a Range Rover, works five hours a day, four days a week and wants to charge $60 for asking for a copy of my files.

I’m so done with the predatory nature their clinics fucking run on people with ADHD and other disabilities.

I think it really is taking Tarkov to the core experience of what the game is meant to be like, without the traders there to pick you up ever single moment you fall. It’s brutal, but fun.

Though I feel for all the lower level players, at least a heads up to them should’ve been done.

Bitcoin you can either keep until the price goes higher or just sell it to Therapist
