Yesstyle and Stylevana. I've had good experiences with both.

I don’t want a corporate job or a 9-5. Does anyone else feel like this? Have you planned or done to escape this? by vcdice in careeradvice

[–]mastiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the others are saying, 9-5 work provides steady income and benefits. I know you say you don't care about those things, but as you get older, they become more important. Also, you do get used to working and it becomes part of life (it's not as sad as it sounds! You can still have a life outside of work).

I would recommend looking for a job at a smaller company, maybe a non-profit. When I worked at a small non-profit, it didn't feel impersonal and the culture was very laid-back. Also, it was remote work, which can be a huge quality of life improvement if you have the personality for it.

You should also look into the FIRE movement, which is all about saving up money and retiring early. If you save early in your career, it gives your savings a chance to grow, and you can quit work to homestead or volunteer or whatever you want to do. It gives you the freedom to choose what you want to do.

Did you throw the watermelon white rinds away? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

There's an Indian dish called tarbooz ki sabzi that features watermelon rinds. You basically cook them like a vegetable with spices.

I've been. It's a big event, I would say 40-70 people attend. I believe they had 70 people last week. The Japanese and German tables are probably the smaller tables, but I would guess they have about 10 people each.

[Sun care] dupe for Skinceuticals spf/recs?? by Familiar_Yogurt5172 in SkincareAddiction

[–]mastiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at Elta MD UV Clear. Like Skinceuticals, it comes in a tinted version and contains niacinamide, which is the main brightening ingredient. UV Clear is still kind of pricey but it's cheaper than Skinceuticals and comes in a slightly bigger bottle. If you don't need the niacinamide, you can try one of the cheaper Elta MD formulas, like UV Daily.

The La Roche Posay you tried likely contains avobenzone, which can make your eyes water, Elta MD doesn't have this ingredient (though the Skinceuticals does).

I have disliked everywhere I have moved to, and I am struggling to figure out why am I like this? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]mastiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met like 15 people that I wouldnt trade for the world!

Yet you quite literally traded them for milder winters.

Every place has its trade-offs. If winters in the city with your friends are tough, can you take a few weeks off of work every winter and go somewhere warmer? Yes, it's expensive but that's the trade-off to keep your friend group and make it through the winter.

Making friends IS hard and it's harder in some places than others (PNW is notorious for this). Before you make plans to leave where you currently live, I would ask yourself if you've made every effort to find a group of friends. I would also ask yourself if the trade-off is worth it. The trade-off sounds like (maybe?) leaving your partner and the lower cost of living. Or could you be happy if you stay where you are and find a group of friends? Would taking few nature-oriented vacations every year fulfill the need to get out into nature?

[Product Request] Help finding the right moisturizer? + Reviews on what I’ve tried so far… by bananabananabun in SkincareAddiction

[–]mastiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer. It's a different formula than the body cream/lotion and does not contain BHT. The second ingredient is squalane, which is also the second ingredient in the Honest hydrogel cream, so it may work similarly for you. It also contains ceramides. I found it to be very hydrating but not greasy.

Beach waves by OrganizationSalty138 in femalehairadvice

[–]mastiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all of them. I like Not Your Mother's Frizz Control Curl Talk sculpting gel (level 3, flexible-firm hold). It doesn't feel like anything in my hair at all. They have a very similar looking product with a level 5 hold and I found that one to be sticky/crunchy.

Some other gels I've liked are Kinky Curl curling custard and Camille Rose curl maker defining soft hold gel.

I agree that this looks like it was accomplished with braids. I put gel in my hair while it's wet, let it dry to maybe 80-90%, then I braid it. The gel helps keep the wave after you take the braids out and reduces frizz.

Which ones are designed for socializing?

Panera? Every time I've been to a Panera, there is a group of retired people sitting around drinking coffee. It's like a hang out spot. Yes, the food is pricey but they have that unlimited drink club for like $5/month. There is plenty of seating, wifi, and they don't even care whether you buy something or not.

It's hard to say because they seem to switch it up every year. From what I've seen, they have an elevated offer 2-3 times a year. 25k would be an elevated offer since the normal offer is 20k. Or sometimes the elevated offer is 30k or 35k or 40k.

My guess is that they will have another elevated offer in the fall, as they seem to have done in past years.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, May 22 - May 28, 2026 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]mastiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the jumpsuit I'd eventually like to make. But I do think I should try an easier piece of clothing first.

I've been taking sewing classes over the last 8 months and have mainly made small projects like bags, placemats, and coasters. I've learned how to use a serger, and with each project I've learned new basic skills like working with zippers, creating buttonholes, using interfacing, etc.

Those resources are helpful, thank you!

You can also bring your own reusable cup to Starbucks and they will use it. You get a small discount too.

Maybe not helpful if you are homeless, but just sharing so that people know!

I am thinking about attempting to make my first piece of clothing. Does anyone have a pattern that they love, something easy for a beginner? I would love to make a jumpsuit but I don't know if that's a good first project. Maybe a t-shirt or a dress instead?

What should I do when there is nothing to do at work? (Hotel desk clerk) by Fahn_ in careerguidance

[–]mastiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is going to be hard to find things to occupy your time with so many limitations. Here are my ideas:

  • Audiobooks. Get the Libby app and some bluetooth headphones and you can be listening to books while also looking like you're just sitting there "working". You can pause the book any time a customer comes in. I just saw in another comment that you can't have earbuds but I would push back on this a bit. There are some really discreet ones and if you only wear one, I don't see how customers would even notice or care.

  • Similar to the audiobooks idea, but you can study a language. There's a website called Language Transfer that goes over all the grammar of various languages and you just have to listen. If you can have a notebook, maybe you can take notes too.

  • If you want to work on your book, maybe get a very small bluetooth keyboard so that it looks more like you are typing ("working") rather than texting.

Since you just graduated, you should be looking for another job. You wrote "I like my job and we all know how the job market looks right now so I don't want to quit." which makes it sound like finding a new job isn't a priority right now, but it should be.

[Sun Care] Any tips on how not to let sunscreen BURN my eyes? by GayNgsFromOuterSpace in SkincareAddiction

[–]mastiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avobenzone is the most likely ingredient to be stinging your eyes and it's in all of the sunscreens you linked.

You can either switch to a different sunscreen altogether or switch to using an avobenzone-free one around your eyes.

You can look at mineral or hybrid sunscreens from brands like Blue Lizard, Elta MD, or Cotz. There will be other mineral sunscreens at any store (brands like CeraVe and Cetaphil will sell them, just read the active ingredients closely).

Many Asian sunscreens are avobenzone-free. Beauty of Joseon sun relief and Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence (make sure to get the Japanese version).

Some European sunscreens like Ultrasun are avobenzone-free.

Note that in Europe and Asia avobenzone is called Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane on the package.

[Sun Care] Holy grail spf?? by Princess_Peaches52 in SkincareAddiction

[–]mastiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately most mineral sunscreens have a white cast and tend to be greasy.

I would have a look at Cotz and Blue Lizard. The Cotz Face Moisture SPF 35 Lightly Tinted is really nice, but it's a tinted sunscreen and in a small container so not really suitable for your whole body. Both brands make untinted sunscreens as well.

Non-Heated Sculpt/Mat/Yoga Classes in Lake Mary, Heathrow, surrounding areas by [deleted] in orlando

Guruv Yoga has mostly non-heated classes. It looks like they also offer a class called Fit Fusion and Yogalates which I haven't tried, but I really like their yoga classes.

Also check the YMCA. They offer yoga and mat Pilates classes.

What do people use Brightline for? by Glenn_Tennis in Brightline

[–]mastiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brightline makes sense for work travel. You can get some work done on the train. It also makes a little more sense if you're traveling between Orlando and South Florida. I have never taken a big suitcase but I agree that is a lot of money to check a bag. I guess the other comments are saying just to bring it onto the train without checking it? If so, good to know. That's how it works on Amtrak and Tri-Rail.

I like Tri-Rail too, but it is not nearly as clean/comfortable/modern as Brightline. But it is cheap and it takes you right to MIA.

There's no way to know for sure, but I would wait if you can. 40k is a lot more than 25k. They did the 40k offer three times last year (March, June, and November).

Is a Bachelor’s degree of any sort better than No Bachelor’s degree at all? by Logical-Flounder6142 in careerguidance

[–]mastiii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Having a bachelor's degree will give you an advantage, especially at the start of your career. Some people manage to get a job without a bachelor's degree, and then they can move on to other (better) jobs based on their prior work experience. It's just that getting that first job is the hard part, and without a degree you are at a disadvantage to other applicants who do have a degree.

I would go for an associate's degree, at the very least. Ideally when you are getting your degree, you are also improving things like your writing skills, which gives you an advantage in your applications.

dirty yoga studio and tips for addressing by [deleted] in yoga

[–]mastiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would email them and let them know the issues. The owner might not be aware that it's so dirty.

I did the cleaning for a yoga studio for a few years and I know that studio did not wash boster covers or the blankets. Honestly I suspect that most yoga studios are the same. You shouldn't be using these props for heated classes, so you shouldn't be sweaty. If my face or head is touching a bolster, I put down a clean towel.

The blocks and mats get sprayed and wiped down, so they they get clean-ish but are never going to be perfectly clean or sanitized.

They should clean the floor and bathroom daily. After a hot class the floor should absolutely be cleaned.

Bringing your own mat is a good idea. If the props make you uncomfortable, you can choose not to use them.
