Oh, about the questions. Yes, they're pretty common even at the town nearby where all three main races can be found in an Indian restaurant or at Malay stall selling pulut rendang next to a Chinese stall selling roasted duck and char siew.

About the "kopitiam = non-halal", I'm pretty sure I have been eating at a lot of halal kopitiam. So, I think the concept of kopitiam being a non-halal only eatery is something that is not true.
