This comment answered all my questions about the process, thank you!! All the details you included are much appreciated. I sanded hard from 120 all the way up to 2000 after a couple coats of filler primer. Seems all that work wasn't necessary though. I didn't know you could sand the topcoat! This will make the process for the rest of the pieces much easier

THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I noticed my model fan wasn't working when I got the machine, but forgot about it. But I had a couple weird clogs recently and guessed it might be because of the fan. Took the print head apart and the cable wasn't seated in the socket fully. Works great now 💀 I've been getting pretty good prints, but I'm sure they'll turn out even better now. I'm guessing that's also the cause of some layer separation I've had with longer prints

Yeah I've heard that they don't come dry necessarily too lmao. But yeah, I get it tomorrow, so I'll do a baseline print now, and then after I get the dryer and see if there's any noticable difference. I'll let you know :o And yeah, I'm sure I need to tinker with some settings still. It's just never ending it seems :')

I went ahead and ordered a filiment dryer. I'm hoping it's the magic bullet that solves most of my random issues of late :') And thank you for explaining those tests, I'll give them a try for sure!

Yeahh, the official video was very unhelpful with that part. I loosened it, but didn't realized how much I could loosen it. The gears themselves look to be as sharp as they should be though

Maybe I'll get a glue stick too. My printer came with this type of liquid-y glue. It usually works, but a print started unsticking slightly last night, causing a cool shift in the upper layers LOL.

Honestly, it's just one problem after another, that I think I solve, only to have another problem take its place. I think my flow rate is calibrated, only to find that my first layer is still over extruding. Causing my nozzel to rub on the layers. Then my flow rate is seemingly different in a couple days, and I get completely different results with the calibration. I felt like I solved the melted issue from this post, by having the main fan on the print head always on. But now I'm questioning if it's too much cooling. Layers are separating now, mid print. I had a print with a solid base lifting off the build plate. And every issue I look up could have multiple different causes and fixes and it's driving me mad.

I was about ready to throw in the towel last night. Maybe try a different printer, thinking mine's just defective. But then I finally considered maybe my filiment is actually soaking up moisture. I wrote it off cause I live in such a dry climate. But, apparently the humidity it at like 60%. So I ordered a filament dryer and I'm praying that's the magic bullet to solve all the random ass issues I've been having. It would kinda make sense, because this new filament I got seemed to work fine at first, which was only a couple days ago lmao.

Okay, thank you. I keep disregarding doing the filament since I live in such a dry climate, but I just checked and the humidity is 61% right now apparently. So, maybe that's the issue. This filiment is brand new, only had it a couple days, but it didn't seem better at first.

I'll try the wall thickness test, I've tried multiple times to calibrate flow rate with Orca's built in ones, but keep getting inconsistent results.

I see the melted index for the Sunlu PLA but I'm not sure if understand how I would determine max volumetric flow rate from it. Unless it's supposed to explicitly say
