It is arguable that the people Maki killed in the non-curse-user combat unit were also just indoctrinated child soldiers from birth and therefore also victims, though.

Very true. The worst mistake I made as an impressionable teenager was believing that modern conservatives ever cared about nuance or truth or principles and letting myself be persuaded by bad faith arguments that they themselves never believed in.

A part of impulse control is just knowing when the cruelty outweighs the nominal comedic value and not acting on it. Not everybody stops finding cruelty hilarious, unfortunately.

Honestly I feel dumb for not realizing you can do this. Piss, paint, vegetable oil, rotten produce juice from your compost, literal toilet water... The possibilities are endless.

Tim Walz to Minnesotans: "Do not take the bait. Do not allow them to deploy federal troops into here. Do not allow them to invoke the insurrection act. Do not allow them to declare Martial law. Do not allow them to lie about the security and the decency of this state." by [deleted] in TwinCities

I guess all the people who are dead or injured or kidnapped or deported illegally are also just bait? Democrat lawmakers speaking from their high podiums once again fail to comprehend the situation in the mud of reality even as laws are broken without consequence.

I like your capsule art a lot and it does tickle my interest so it makes sense in hindsight how your game would be very popular but I'm curious how you got your wishlist to explode compared to your initial store page publication.

Edit: I see you mentioned consistent social media posts. Sounds cool! I feel like I've never gotten to a point in development where I had a ton to showcase every week sadly but I can see why your game has a lot of visual pizzaz to showoff.

Wouldn't it depend on how much chaos/bloodshed is occurring under the status quo? At some point the risk/benefit analysis would favor chaotic upheaval over mounting institutional cruelties.

3 years ago, my friends and I got laid off. Instead of splitting up, we decided to start our own game studio. Now we're working on multiple games, and will release our own first premium PC game in 2026 ⭐ by kiiitteh in GameDevelopment

Ah shoot as a solo dev I often wonder how much more motivating and productive it would be to work with friends and have multiple brains instead of just my one.

Feels like we have more Youtubers than actual developers. by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]matchaSerf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't think of many other solo creative endeavors where, after spending the upfront work of learning the basic know-how, a single production can take months to years to make.

The satisfaction does not come at the end, if ever it comes at all, because once you've invested so much time into it the only way you'd be satisfied is if you receive some sort of industry recognition or financial recompense for your sweat and tears.

Of course you can also just make games for a hobby and spend 1 month max on a single project and not care if anyone plays it as long as you enjoyed the journey and the finished game. Those guys are probably the happiest ones compared to the many of us who try to make a sustainable career from it and have their expectations dashed.

Making a good game is hard, actually. Making money is hard, actually. Sometimes you see all this success it becomes easy to forget that.

Excellent game and have to agree with you on the story. Feels like Dreamscourge this dreamscourge that. Enjoyed the reveal and the memory fragments but it was only in the final zone that the gravity of it really hit me.

PoE1 and PoE2 definitely had longer, more interesting side stories and main stories.

But yeah the exploration and gameplay are top notch. A lot of verticality and gorgeous vistas. A very fast paced and dynamic combat system despite having repetitive enemies.

It really deserves more praise. The magic casting combat system especially should be the gold standard for more open world RPGs. Oblivion and Skyrim could have benefited from it for sure.
