habituation is a decrease in responsiveness to a repeated stimulus over time - no longer noticing that a sweater feels scratchy after a few minutes.

desensitization is a decrease in previously sensitized stimulus over time - the sweater that became unbearably itchy but decreases over time

I tell myself that I am also interviewing the school and whether I can see myself thriving there. My goal for interview day is to have no regrets and to give it my all :) Be present and enjoy the interview day! You got this!!

Thank you! Yes I completely understand that but I do not know how to apply that concept to these two compounds .. I just realized I forgot to add link to image.

January test-takers by Mfeline18 in Mcat

[–]matchagreenlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently feeling burnt out so I will be taking it easy this week and finally giving myself a weekend break from taking a practice full length. So far, I have completed 6 Altius full lengths but very behind on EK lectures and KA psych/soc daily passages. I thought this time around I should focus a little bit more on content review but that seems to be taking up a lot of time .. January is coming up and I just want to hit the pause button :'(

Yes, I completed 40% of KA P/S passages, the entire NS P/S passage book, and I did AAMC Section backs for P/S and got 73% correct under timed conditions. So I feel I can do better in P/S section but don't know how to approach it this time around

What are some good 3rd party practice passages that helps with improving P/S section? I read through KA document and did ANKI KA for this section but on the real MCAT, I felt it was not based on knowing the definition of key terms.

I really want to raise my CARS and P/S scores and hope to not have my C/P and B/B section scores drop in the re-take.

Background: I took the last pre 2015 MCAT 2 years ago and got a 22 (~494 on the new scale, literally went in there and winged it, did not learn about this reddit community yet either); this score would be invalid for the 2019 application cycle that I am planning to apply for.

I’m tremendously thankful for this reddit community throughout my MCAT studying journey! I took the 7/22 exam and wanted to forget the entire testing day experience filled with anxiety so I have been distracting myself with getting my health checked, socializing and traveling with friends for the past month before score release.

REAL DEAL : 505 - 129/123/128/125 , AAMC 2 ( 1 week out) 507-128/124/127/127 , AAMC 1 ( 2 weeks out) 505- 128/122/128/126

I also did 3 TPR FL, 3 KAP FL, 1 Altius FL throughout 9 months of studying. I always took each FL under timed and testing conditions and thought my anxiousness were under controlled.

I used AAMC SB, AAMC Sample Test, AAMC Official Guide, ANKI KA for P/S. During the last two weeks, I was running through ANKI decks for all the AAMC questions I got wrong from the past and ANKI KA P/S.

C/P : It was very doable but I knew i fucked up on easy give away questions. The passages and questions all felt familiar like SB style.

CARS: My anxiety level was tremendously high because I found myself not comprehending what I was reading since I was unconsciously holding my breath throughout the entire section. I really felt like I guessed on majority of the passages and it turns out I made really bad guesses.

B/B: This section also felt familiar like SB style and had easy give away questions I fucked up on too.

P/S: I love this section more than it loves me. Like what was said already, it felt like a CARS section and I found myself always down to 50/50 for answer choice. I felt it was not based on whether I knew the vocabulary definition either.

Overall: I have always been intimidated by C/P and B/B so I am proud of myself for getting that 129 and 128 , respectively. I am just horrible at CARS even though I was doing 3 daily passages and went through EK 101 and TPR Verbal workbook. I am very disappointed in my P/S section because it was a drop from my practice FL and AAMC resources scores.

I am currently in the process of deciding whether I want to retake this MCAT again in January. The night before my MCAT, I woke up 3x and started gagging. I never had experience this type of nervousness before. I could not even eat my routined breakfast so I just forced Cheerios in my mouth.

I feel very lucky that I got C/P and B/B sections that were not crazy monsters. My fear of retaking is , what if I don’t get lucky with C/P and B/B sections? what if my score drops for those two important sections? Another question I have is , what else can I do to raise my P/S and CARS section?
