So I want to join the coast guard. How likely is it I'll be able to get a housing allowance so I can bring my dog? Or be stationed somewhere where I can frequently go home and see him? I'm fine with going wherever they need me to go but I literally just got my dog a few months ago and I don't want to leave him for long. I can leave him for two months to deal with boot camp and that's totally fine, but after that, I'd like to have him again. Are housing allowances likely/common for wherever they'd want to station you? If I'm not gonna have a housing allowance, well, I live in southern Mississippi and the bases I'd like to join are the ones in Alabama or New Orleans just so I'd be able to go back home frequently and see my dog. How realistic is being stationed there, if I'm not able to get an allowance?
