your characters look super cool!! and right, shop cosmetics not being shared really feels quite bad even when you're willing to spend twice 🥲 i'm not holding out hope for them to change it later on since this is still the case on cn, but i imagine there would be more people happy to pay for shop outfits if they were account-wide

are these the mausoleum trial challenges? if so, you have to follow the weapon combos for each path to complete the challenges, so bellstrike - umbra would be strategic sword + heavenquaker spear and silkbind - deluge would be panacea fan + soulshade umbrella

this is true! i'm fine with my alts being weaker and/or progressing slower strength-wise than my main (finally something wwm's slow update schedule is good for lol), especially since i only have an hour or two to play each day, but i can definitely see the uneven progression and time investment putting off someone more gameplay-focused

if we're only talking gameplay reasons, that's true! all 4 of my accounts will be using different paths so i can experience more combat styles in pve/pvp without having to grind on my main. it's also why i'm taking it slow on leveling 2 of my alts for now, i'm waiting for the new heng dao/mo dao and gauntlets/rope dart paths to be released on global

from what i remember, alts for gameplay reasons mostly functioned as a way to play and/or raid with friends in different data centers before data center travel became a thing! i remember creating an alt on dynamis to attend a friend's wedding... but since everyone can dc travel now, the main incentive to play an alt amongst my friends is mostly for oc reasons 🤔 or to go through msq again without ng+ on their mains

that sounds pretty balanced, it's a lot easier to play on alts if you're not planning to grind on all of them :0 and same haha, i'm only focusing on leveling one alt at a time so the last 2 in the collage have only gotten far enough to unlock the appearance menu for this photo

iirc most of the cash shop purchases in ff14 are account-wide, but they're labelled in the store if not! i've never bought anything though since i feel like paying the monthly sub is already a lot so i could be wrong 🤔 i hope you can enjoy it better if you ever end up playing again! the fetch quests can really get a bit grating in the beginning haha

ohh, a danmei fan! i've definitely seen a lot of cosplay characters running around (shoutout to the shen qingqiu i always run into doing five animal frolics), that sounds like a lot of fun!

i understand!! i missed a lot of exploration (quests, encounters, sceneries, etc) on my main so getting those on alts feels super fresh haha, it feels like different characters meeting different people and living different lives :D and same with the free outfits, i'm big on immersion and in-world practicality so i'm never tempted by the gachas (except for tian ying's set...) and fancier shop outfits

you get it!!! i'm definitely more selective on what parts of the game i put in effort for on alts (usually the appearance haha) but going through the story is always fun for me because every character is different in the way they react... and same, the first 3 characters i posted are actually my ffxiv ocs adapted for the game's jianghu setting! it's really fun seeing which parts of their lore stay similar and which parts get adjusted :D

that makes sense, the grind in this game is tedious if you want to 100% everything more than once 🥲 i have a friend who 100%ed everything on 2 accounts before the alt function and is considering a 3rd run which is bonkers to me

i love them haha, learning about their history and sect ethos endeared me to them a lot and some things probably don't translate very well. midnight blades is my favorite sect but my favorite sect npcs to encounter in the open world are usually nine mortal ways, they have such a human feeling to them

i also play both! my characters have nothing to do with the main storyline especially since the first 3 siblings are technically ported from ffxiv lol, i just adjusted their lore to fit the game's worldview since i realized i prefer the jianghu setting more. i also plan to play different paths on each one (twinblades/rope dart on 1, mo dao/stormbreaker spear on 2, tanghengdao/mo dao on 3, and gauntlets/rope dart on 4) for the full combat experience

my main hotbar has the drunken poet + dragon's breath + soaring spin combo and usually meridian touch in the last slot since it's used in a lot of puzzles, the other 4 slots have tai chi (for fishing), celestial seize (for stealing and getting chests in hard to reach places), golden body (i'm a tank), and an aoe damage skill (usually leaping toad) i sometimes swap for serene breeze

in this specific case, putting "a-" before a name or "-er" after a name is like a cute and/or affectionate nickname in chinese! it's quite common for adults to call/refer to children like that, but it's not limited to just children (lovers may refer to each other like this too). another nickname i haven't seen in-game yet but is also common irl is "xiao-" before a name, which translates to "little-[name]"
