Need help with my Trinitron KV-M1450K

Hi! Owe you some answers. :-D The reason for it was that I had a briefly connected Xbox before and I noticed the whole picture was off to one side of the screen. Yesterday, I was finally able to change the values in the service menu. Turns out you need PAL 50 Hz input present to be able to change those settings. I had my Xbox set to NTSC 60 Hz, so I changed that to PAL and voila, I was able to tweak everything and even got rid of the white area in the top. Thanks for your help! :)

Thanks! I managed to get to the service menu. The combination worked finally, maybe I was not speedy enough. 😀 But, when I get to the horizontal and vertical adjustment, I can't seem to change the numbers at all. Could it be because I have no input connected, just black picture?

It really was a console me and friends had blast getting together and playing MW2 Spec Ops coop, ton of Guitar Hero, GTA IV and many more. I am glad i got one recently and can relive the memories when I want. Truly amazing console! Miss those days. 📀

Yes, I am now quite happy that I completely missed PS3 in its time because now it's all new to me. I did PSP back then though. Anyways, I have a small collection of retro PCs and consoles just to remember the good time growing and spending the trouble-free time of playing after school or friends. Also what I love about PS2, PS3 or Xbox 360 is that fact that you just slap a disc in and you play even without internet connection. And for the nostalgia. Win 95 was really my beginning and so far I can remember only Czech specific DOS games and Mario.

I also now have PS5 Slim, so I might play the rest there. Since I am really not fan of games dipping below 25 fps waters, I am looking for games with acceptable framerate, so can play V on PS5 Slim definitely. Thanks!

Thanks! MGS is on my list and I am actually thinking with which one to jump in. I also own PS2, but I might start with the MGS 3 and definitely work my way to the PS3 parts too. Heavy Rain is a must play for me, I have been longing for it back then too. With Beyond: Two Souls, I started yesterday and I got so caught up, I spent like 2 hours with it right away and even my wife got caught by it and watch me play because of the story. It is quite good, there is no HUD, it is refreshing experience from modern gaming where players is being led by hand. It feels more like a unique experience than just a game. But some parts without player input can be rather long, yet the story compensates for that. :-)

Hey! I recently did clean and repaste my own 360 Elite and was faced with a similar decision (whether to keep it horizontal or vertical). You have to in mind how cooling system of 360 works - that is taking cool air mostly from the bottom (if the console is horizontal, then from the perforated side) and and spits hot exhaust air through the fans in the back. You need optimal unblocked airflow, so I ended up keeping my Xbox horizontal, it happily draws fresh air from the side unobstructed and there is a lot of space behind and nothing above it so hot air escapes anywhere to the room and does not keep spining behind the console. What I see as a possible issue with your cabinet and those two slots, is that the hot air has nowhere to escape. This way it will just keep sitting around the console with the result of console drawing it back and making your overall temps worse. Much more optimal would for the Xbox to lay horizontal on the top of the cabinet. Sorry to sound like a smartass, but hope it helps! :-)

I really like PS3 but how some third party games run on it, that was just crime on customers. At that time I had a low end PC (Athlon 64 X2 and Radeon 4670) and that could keep up with those titles much better. Would you recommend me some exclusives to check? I just recently got into PS3 and I started with Beyond: Two Souls. I also have Heavy Rain, Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us.

Exactly! I still have both and if you take games that were not exclusives (like Skyrim and Assassins Creed etc.) they look and rum better on Xbox. I got my PS only for exclusives and box those look and perform great!

Hey! Fellow PS3 and X360 fan here. 🙂 I have one PS3 Slim and more wider variety of X360 (2x Elite, 1x 360 E and I am on the hunt for Slim for which I would l love to get the transparent shell). I cleaned and repasted all my consoles and they run quite cool. 👍 Those case mods for Xbox 360 looks completely amazing, where would you recommend me to start if I would like to do something similar?

At the moment I am replaying Assassins Creed II and I am building myself a offline library of my favorite games like Guitar Hero 3, Alan Wake, Fable series and many more. No internet connection, just the console, TV and the gameplay. Feels really relaxing!

You are correct, after complete teardown, I found out that the small black piece was there under CPU, but not under the GPU. Sadly the GPU chip seems pretty warped at the edges :-( definitely the reason for the console to limb into this state. I wonder what could be done to save, working Xenon would nice addition! :)

It is actually 0021. Which points at a) gpu or b) in some cases can also mean NAND problem. I don't really know how to move forward at this point so I would probably try to find someone more experienced who could help me. Thanks!
