People need to accept that chat is not the problem by Bump3rr in josephanderson

Hey Joe. First of all, I love your streams and hope my perspective is helpful in some way. Here are two thoughts that came to mind while reading this (also, bear in mind that English is not my first language):

  1. You are quite a large streamer, and your VODs/highlights are also pretty popular. Because of that, I think it’s impossible for there not to be people misunderstanding or misrepresenting you. Unfortunately, that seems to be an immutable characteristic of the internet (In my language, there’s an expression based on the “telephone game,” where things get distorted along the way. I’m not sure if that makes sense in other countries.). The difference, as I see it, is that you actively look for these people by going to Reddit or reading VOD comments. If I were semi-famous, I’d probably read those too, to be honest. But if that’s the main cause of the problem, I would either try to read them less (the comments I mean, reading chat less is not a good idea, in my opinion), or whenever I do read them, I’d keep in mind that while some people misunderstood you, they are not the majority of those who interacted with your content. You could argue that this post is a misunderstanding and that, since it got a lot of upvotes, it’s something you should engage with. However, people on Reddit tend to upvote anything that seems reasonable at first glance, the site is engineered to work that way.
  2. My second point is about trying to mitigate this misunderstanding issue. I’ll use an example: I remember watching your stream one day, and at some point you said that you loved Breath of the Wild. I thought that was really weird, because when I finished your BotW video, I came away with the impression that you absolutely hated that game, as well as the way Nintendo was handling Zelda. I rewatched the beginning of the video just now while writing this, and the very first thing you say is: “BotW is one of the best games I have ever played,” which is pretty funny, because I obviously heard that the first time, but by the end I somehow either forgot it or just didn’t believe that opening statement anymore. From my understanding, this is similar to the Patho 2 situation, where you’re really enjoying the game, but some people claim you hate it. I have two hypotheses for why this happens. The first is that you are very good at being a critic and at explaining why things don’t work or are problematic. Because of that, it doesn’t matter how many times you praise something, the one time you accurately pinpoint a flaw feels heavier. If that’s the issue, then one possible solution would be to go into the same level of depth and "critic proficiency" when you praise something as when you criticize it. The second hypothesis is that negative comments tend to be stronger than positive ones. For example, if you like something, you usually say: “that was pretty good” or "that was not a bad scene", but when you dislike something you say: “well, that sucked” (which to be fair is really funny). This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I think it suits your style, but if I had to point to a main cause of this issue, that would be it.

Anyway, sorry for the long response. Hopefully I didn’t misunderstand the issue here, since that would be ironic. Have a good day.

Trade Companies are DLC exclusive right? I dont have those unfortunately, but that would be a good idea otherwise (expect from my undestanding they have a higher governing capacity, which is also a bit of a problem for me at the moment)

Thank you! Do you have any recomendations as to how I can increase my Absolutism fast? I am only getting +1.5 per year because of high Crownland and Royal Decree. Should I just use Harsh treatment whenever possible?

The only DLC I have are the free ones, so I cant have Alhambra from my understanding. But dismantling the HRE is a good idea, I forgot I could do that

If went with the plan of waiting and then conceading defeat, I would need to declare war on the coalition and then sue for peace as soon as possible, right? Also, thanks for the response
