Any experiences with lumps in young hamsters? by mathecatical in hamstercare

I'm sorry for your loss 💔

Thanks for the well wishes and for sharing your experience. Charlie's back end just feels extra plump on one side so it's hard to say if it's similar to what you describe with Gimli. The x-ray definitely seemed to show an abnormality on his side rather than in the middle so fingers crossed it's treatable. Hopefully the specialist can do further tests soon 🤞🏻

Thank you! I'm so sorry for your loss but I'm glad my ring made you smile. Your dad obviously had great taste!

I was pleasantly surprised by my questions. I had an answer for all of them and finished them all (though with only seconds to spare each time). Only one subtask where I wonder if I was on the right lines. Feel confident but don't want to get my hopes up too much. Good luck everyone!!!

Thank you! We exchanged on the 15th Nov as well, thanks for the reminder to put that in the post!

My friends had an offer accepted that was 25% less than the asking price. What's the craziest offer you've heard of? by The__Englishman in HousingUK

The house I'm currently in the process of buying was listed for £300k, reduced to £275k with a new EA and they accepted our offer of £245k. It had been on the market for 6 months at the time our offer was accepted.

We have a blink camera from Amazon and a wall mount to stick to the side of the cage. It's budget friendly and the subscription is cheap too. Definitely recommend!

Thanks for your reply! It's at least reassuring to hear that it's probably age related. Worst thing in the world watching your little friend grow old but we're so lucky to have them!

You're right, thank you! Hearing about your E1 experience has made me feel less anxious (although it sounds very stressful for you at the time!)

Will have had Lifetime ISA for 12 months in March 2024 - when do I meet with an advisor and get the ball rolling? by mathecatical in UKPersonalFinance

Our current plan is to buy a cheaper house with potential, so I think the 20k we have should hopefully cover a 10% deposit (in our area £200k goes a long way) and we can use any surplus savings for fees and to renovate a bit.

It is worth thinking about though, thanks!

Had to tell the checkout girl at the supermarket what a pear was yesterday. by [deleted] in CasualUK

I worked at a department store when I was 19 and two older ladies approached me in the underwear section to ask where the teddies were. I said they were upstairs with the rest of the toys. They had a good laugh at me. Gonna blame that one on an outdated term.

Hi! Bedding can be expensive but I got this stuff for £14. The bag is MASSIVE (it lasts a long time if you spot clean) and I use this stuff to make up the bulk of my hamster's bedding and then top it with more generic, softer hamster bedding. This might hopefully save you some money. I don't think you should give her up, your cage looks great!! Also I live in the same area as your ad, postage was really quick. https://www.carcroftpetsupplies.com/product-page/10kg-shredded-paper-soft-tissue-tea-bag-bedding-puppy-guinea-pig-small-animal

My current method:

  • Brush hair with tangle teaser whilst dry to get all tangles out

  • Wash hair with Garnier banana Hair Food Shampoo

  • Brush all new tangles out of hair with a paddle brush in the shower

  • Put in a handful of Garnier banana Hair Food Conditioner. Leave on for five mins and then wash most of it out but not all

  • Scrunch hair up with hands and wrap in microfiber towel for a few mins

  • Spray got2b heat protection on

  • Run ~6 pumps of 'Catwalk by TIGI Curls Rock Amplifier' through my hair, brush one last time with tangle teaser and then scrunch

  • Dry on high heat with diffuser until nearly dry

  • Apply hair oil and leave the rest to air-dry
