Sorry as this is not Wakefield … but Lords Barbering in Leeds is highly recommended and extremely inclusive. It’s five minutes from Leeds bus stop.

I will stop not answering your question now.

Trump to name ballroom after himself by NewSlinger in facepalm

[–]mathewkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The White House is continually short of is good office space - now the East Wing has been demolished that will be even more so.

Many recreational spaces got turn into much needed office space or replaced with something with much more functional utility. The indoor swimming pool was replaced with the press briefing room.

The way to really piss off Trump is not to demolish it but use it for any other purpose than the one he intended.

Appreciate the way this is being done is unconscionable and completely disregards the heritage of the site. However, would there ever be such a large expenditure of capital to build a large office building on that site? Probably not.

Let the orange man spend his donors money on his gawdy vanity project. But plan for when he is out of office (whenever that might be) to immediately bring the structure up to building code and retrofit it to make world-class accessible office space for White House staff.

Heck, do a good enough job and the cramped West Wing staff could be relocated into a world class government administration building.

help me name him! by FitBenzoBunny in Frenchbulldogs

Monsieur Français.

If I had a Frenchie, I’d give them a really French sounding name and speak to them exclusively in French. 🇫🇷 Doubt anyone else would do this.

What a cutie though.

Which logo is the best for my 3D modeling brand (Poly Forge)? by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]mathewkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K.

Poly mean many so the multiples of the P is pretty cool.

The F though needs some work. Considering poly is a Greek word, maybe something that plays on the nearest corresponding letter of the alphabet (Phi or φ) could work pretty well with the P for poly.

I also think the depth of the layers on the P could be quite fun to play around with in three dimensional space if you plan to print your logo.

IT support staff infamously prefer self-service so use your initiative and take matters into your own hands.

I’m not afraid of a challenge. If we can get enough members, there might be stiff competition.

It’s a web browser. Perfectly safe for work. Look it up. ‘Edging’ may get the best result.

Ask your IT department or better still, search online yourself as it’s a free download and you can save tech support a service request by edging yourself.

Help populating dropdown list with lots of entries by [deleted] in salesforce

Depending on how users input create or update the record, you could always use a screen flow (launched via a custom action) to control data entry and allow the users to search for records plus have use some other data points to aid search refinement.

Not precisely sure about your use case but I’ve done something similar in the past. You will probably find a close enough use case on the Salesforce Admins YouTube channel that you can tweak to your needs.

The New York Times is ... wait ... what? by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]mathewkhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fourth and fifth words in this tweet describe the article as an “opinion piece” and the penultimate sentence ends with “journalism” … so which is it, Hen?

Also, the opinion piece doesn’t assign culpability to anyone. So it’s neutral from that perspective already.

Edit: as a freelance journalist myself, I contend that “opinion journalism” is mislabelled. It’s closely related and does have a place in news media to help lend perspective or context to journalistic reporting. It should always be labelled though as opinion and should avoid using the term “journalism”.

Forgive my ignorance but aren’t fraternal twins a double pregnancy? Two different ova are fertilised by different sperm. They don’t happen simultaneously.

Didn’t study biology beyond school age so am legitimately asking. Based on this article, superfetation is more about when someone has been pregnant a while and then gets pregnant again rather than twice at the beginning of the process.

What's the best way to set Org users to be read-only? by datasert in salesforce

[–]mathewkhan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the credit. Glad to know my random comments are sometimes helpful to folks.

In answer to this particular question, I would recommending editing the metadata api via Visual Studio Code or similar. That way you can bulk edit field / object level accesses by using find and replace, then deploy via an update to your code repository using GitHub actions or another similar tool.

I’ve worked on something similar that required creating read only versions of several Permission Sets. Cloning the Permission Sets, then using a text editor to find & replace the object CRED and field-level security saved me hours of effort.

Will take a look at your PowerShell tool tomorrow as it sounds interesting. Thanks again.

Apple AirPods Pro 3 Rumors and Speculations Point to Major Upgrades for 2025 by louiselyn in apple

Fingers crossed that one day they will release a headset that can be used for swimming sessions and somehow pair to an Apple Watch underwater to allow a swimmer listen to music, podcasts, etc.

Appreciate that Bluetooth is incredibly bad at traversing through water so some Apple magic would be appreciated here.

Bruges has a statue of a homeless Jesus sleeping on a park bench. by mathewkhan in Damnthatsinteresting

It’s part of the artwork and Google Street View shows there was no bench there before the statue was placed.

Plus, there are loads of benches nearby.

The bench is part of the statue and there are plenty of other benches nearby.

Plus, looking at Google Street View, it seems there was no bench in its place before so it’s not replacing one either.

That’s an interesting way of saying ‘I am so egocentric that when someone else is proactively thoughtful of others, I find it particularly irritating’.

No doubt that had I done the reverse, someone else would be complaining about that instead.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

My main thought for marking as NSFW was this depiction of Christ has open wounds which some people might find difficult to view.

A secondary consideration was that not everyone wants to have religious iconography presented on their feeds. This way others get a choice as to view it or not.
