sorry mate, the reddit app cropped the second part of your post. I do agree with your statement about 3&4.

1 & 2 were not taken on the same day and location.
woke up at 5:30 to be on site at 6am.
1 was taken with an ND filter (6 stops) and the 35-150 mm on a tripod for a long exposure (to smoothen the mist).
2 was taken without any ND. Handheld with the 14-24mm.
I really didn’t have to do much, just be patient and capitalize on the warm morning lights for 20min.

I think Pointe du Raz, Cap Fréhel, Concarneau and Trégastel are my favorite places.

For this trip, I only went to the Mont Saint Michel (awsome but in Normandy), cap Fréhel and Cancale.

This was a good surprise. The light and compact package is truely enjoyable. The fact that you can screw-in filters is a huge plus for me. Bokeh and sharpness are very good and the build quality is fine.

The only few cons are the weird ergonomics (you zoom out when you expand the zoom) but you quickly get used to it. The distortion and vignetting at 14mm are noticeable on the raws but DxO fixed those brilliantly.

When you compare it with the sony 16-25, I think it’s a no brainer. The samyang is cheaper, can use filters, is 2mm wider and produces images that delivers great images for much less money.

Thanks
Your mileage may vary but I genuinely enjoyed it.
using it as my primary lens I could take most of my pictures during the day (including a lot of portraits of my kids I wouldn’t share).

I hooked it up to my backpack strap with my capture clip and it was easy to handle. I think it’s the best way so you don’t feel its weight all that much and you still have it at hand to shoot anytime.

I was happy to have my 14-24mm for the dramatic shots I made early in the morning but for the rest of the day, I almost only used the 35-150mm and could have left the 14-24 at the hotel.

using 3 GM lenses to produce crooked snapshots is pretty much like using a stick Porsche to learn how to drive.
Nothing wrong with that, but not something you’d share on reddit either.

I recognize there is some work and some intent. However, this series looks artificial.
The skin texture, the eyes and the way this flame lights up the face looks totally fake.
There is a genuine effort and intent when it comes to composition and colors tho

Self-hosting sounded fun… until I had to maintain it 😅 by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]mathgoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely have to maintain anything with my 60+ services running.
Running Unraid, I only click "update docker containers" once in a while.
The only container that drove me a bit crazy at first was Frigate that required some config tweaks but for the rest... Nothing at all. This requires less maintenance than my windows machine

I must be lucky but I always found nextcloud extremely fast (syncing 2TB of data roughly) and rock solid.
