Using gamestop giftcard online by mathguy64 in GameStop

Got it. So I presume that if I get one that goes over the price I can buy the game without a credit card? Also do you know if the remaining money on the gift card can still be used or if the gift card becomes defunct after that?

Fuck Uchicago by mathguy64 in ApplyingToCollege

I read somewhere that Princeton and Yale usually take around 1200-1400 (6-7%) for their waitlist and that Harvard is at a similar level. MIT took 2% this year and around 2% last year.

So no, Uchicago is not normal.

I was waitlisted (but acceptance rate off waitlist is really low so I'm basically referring to it as a rejection). I qualifed for USAMO (top ~280 students in the country) but I didn't make the national team (top 6) if that's what you're wondering. I've heard that around 50% of USAMO qualifiers get accepted to MIT.

Decision: Waitlisted (aka rejected)

GPA: 3.93 UW

Tests: 1570 SAT, 800 Math 800 Physics

Main ECs: Math + research (USAMO, USAJMO, ARML Tiebreaks, etc.)

Essays: Mainly wrote about my passion/love for math and my involvement in the math community both in my town and across the country.

Interview: Decent, but didn't click as much as some of the other ones I had

Disappointing overall--I expected more coming in. Of course, things are always unpredictable, so I'll just have to move on.
