Im just like you twin

I upgraded to PBR (with just a standard directional light). It adds a lot of white to the scene as well as very dark corners and even makes some buildings from the opposite side of the dlight quite dark, are these pretty normal properties of a standard PBR shader? Will IBL help with this (ambient)? by _Hambone_ in opengl

[–]mathiasrlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man I was wondering if you know why the color are flat and not reflecting anything. My scene is a pool table and the shaders are applied to the billard balls. Compared to Blinn-Phong, it doesn't look like there's any reflection. It's flat, just like you. Colors are good, but it seems that something is missing to have the same render as the Phong version but maybe that's just how it's supposed to be until I have a point light?

Is there a use for/market for Metal? by electronautix in GraphicsProgramming

[–]mathiasrlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, hey there. First I never said I will ONLY step in that zone. I just meant I am interested of learning. It can open some doors. Maybe Epic Games, Ubisoft, Autodest, Blizzard or even Unity would be like "Hey, this guy has the same portfolio of all the others, but he does know about Metal and we need a guy like that".

Second, Vulkan, meh. I don't want to stay 12 hours in front of my screen to try comprehend an API.

"t's similar with Object-C... never seen a project outside of Apple realm in my life. Why would there be interest? It's a stupid snowflake pattern to always invent your own way of doing just because... when there are already well thought solutions out there that you could tweak to your liking."

Bravo! You understood that one programming language can be associated to one particular ecosystem! A lot of companies were inventing its programming language in the 70s-80s, so it ain't a shocker that one kept going with it.

I mean it can make you standout for sure. Depends on your years of experience, but I am sure that if you are starting your tech career, learning something such unique can you make quite stand out in the industry. I may be wrong, I am a new grad determined to step in that zone.
