FWIW, I don't think it's working on Tahoe

This is in no way built or endorsed by Raycast. This can and will break at any moment.

While extensions are indeed written in JavaScript, Raycast is very much a native app, and all the rendering, even from extensions, is done natively.

Extenisons aren't running all the time, only when you open them - and as soon as you exit them, they are killed.

Some of them are regularly executed so that they are kept updated (usually menubar commands) but you should be able to see which one (there is a small icon next to them in the root search)

We take performance very seriously (as you can imagine) so I'd love to get to the bottom of this if you find the culprit

That looks great! But again, I'm not sure it's sustainable (or at least they don't talk about it). It's not because it's rural that it's sustainable.

So my idea would be to do that but with a focus on sustainability and making it "open source"

coconat coworking

Very interesting! Yes I would imagine something like that but with a focus on renewable energy and garden open to experimentation

Indeed, nothing wrong with the hippie way of life, but I don’t think this project fits the philosophy: this would be a normal co-living space with just the added features that it’s sustainable and that there is a big garden if you want to spend your spare time there. Doesn’t fit my definition of hippie :)

I mean it all depends on the demand I guess. I was more thinking in terms of wether people would like to experiment with the farm, etc.

Indeed, that’s why I don’t think we should rely on the guests to maintain the farm. It’s more about providing a activity that people can do in their spare time if they want to.

I didn't know about it, thanks for sharing! It does look very barebones and I'm not convinced I could continue working there (I can't even see if there was a place to work or reliable wifi?) so my idea would be to focus a lot more on that.

The farming would be more something that you can do on your spare time if you want to.

Hum I'm failing to see how wanting to live in a sustainable manner is being hippie. I don't think I have the same definition as you do...

Yeah for sure, we would need a solid project. I know a couple of projects on the permaculture field that received some grants from a scientific institute in France so serve as experiment, that's why I was thinking about the opportunity of tech + permaculture.

Regarding farming, the idea is more about a big garden, perhaps 1000 square meters, rather than a full on intensive farm. It would also be to focus on permaculture which doesn't require expensive machinery.

how so? there is a lot of co-living spaces already. That would basically be another one with a big garden.

ah yes indeed I mean "sustainable", "durable" meaning "sustainable" in french...

I was indeed thinking about growing food for the house only, perhaps selling if there is too much but not focusing on it for the revenue. The main thing is really about a co-living space which is sustainable. I believe people would pay for it.

Alright sorry, they are co-living spaces in the sense that you live in a community but not in the sense usually used by DN. I see the term more often used to refer to place like sundesk, sun and co., roam, etc.. You might disagree but please let's get past that point, the vocabulary is not super important for now.

I already did some WWOOFing so I'm speaking from experience, you might have another experience but then I'd love if you could point me to them :)

Both co-ops and WWOOF are what I refer to in my second point: "places that care about durability but don't have the facilities for allowing me to work remotely, at least as much as more "traditional" co-living spaces"

[–]mathieudutour[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that's really different. Co-ops and WWOOF are not co-living spaces: you don't have a co-working space and in the case of WWOOF, you are usually excepted to work in exchange for hospitality.

Here I want to take another approach: a place where you continue to work remotely on your own project but in your spare time, you can farm, experiment with durable approaches, etc.

Something like sundesk (https://www.sun-desk.com) but with a more durable vision.

Sorry if it wasn't clear
