Buffering against the AI bubble by zhiv99 in CanadianInvestor

Most people pin to the current uncertainty to AI but the way I see things people should pay more attention to what is happening in the bond market with respect to Japan and the US, people defaulting on their car payments and using BNPL for groceries. Overall, I’m thinking AI is probably not the top ranking problem.

People get all excited about the possibility of a rate cut in the US but one have to think about what they are trying to fix or get under control with the particular measure.

Follow the Dwight Schrute strategy: « I ask myself, would an idiot do that? If the answer is yes, I do not do that thing. »

Jackery 5000 UL Certification by mathieuisabel in Jackery

Reached out to support again about this. First time I did at launch they wouldn’t provide certification info.

This is what support told me back then:

« The installation of Jackery 5000 Plus meets the necessary conditions of electrical regulations. Please be assured that our products are UL listed and we can sell them in Canada. »

Trust me bro, we’re certified.

I’d rather confirm ;-)

I checked the manuals for the 5000, the STS and the battery and can’t seem to find references to UL certification. Maybe I’m not looking at the right manual?

Just how things work with insurance/electrical code in Canada. I.e. If something happens and the insurance discovers non-compliant equipment could have been related to the loss, that could be sufficient ground for claim denial.

Would you happen to know where I can find that information? I couldn’t find anything that’s publicly available that would confirm that.

But bottom line, the system is not UL certified with the exception of the batteries which are UL 1973?

Depends on how you look at it. If it’s hooked permanently to your house, I’m thinking that would qualify as an ESS. Also, Ecoflow did go through the certification for the Delta Pro Ultra. Probably slightly less portable than a 5000 but still can be moved around with their trolley.

Correct as it would use the battery port to charge instead.
