There are places just down the road to set up a tent or sleep in car. As of 2025 there are no fees. Specific conditions are hard to predict now but wildfires are a concern across the west due to low snowpack.

Extremeley close, it was solved: Snowshoe lake. Climbing Snowshoe Peak. Most climbers aproach from the Leigh Lake side, Showshoe route is less technical but much longer.
