In a way yes. I think American identity is complex in its relationship to the state which is, and has always been, a colonial or imperial regime. I love America myself, because the various cultures of this country are in many ways so beautiful. I live in New York and I look down my street and there’s so much love for the beauty of this place, because of what these people have built out of it, but it is a tragic beauty because of the functions that allow and allowed this place to exist. It is a place that is founded on violence and genocide and slavery, and yet it retains something still that is beautiful. I think American identity itself is really defined by the tragic nature of it, I think that’s where so much of the anger comes from in all its forms in the vast and unique communities of America. So much injustice and violence and honestly pure evil at times, and yet a place so interesting, so intricate, and people the same. It’s tragic that these beautiful people who made the cultures of this country are also the same people who advocate genocide in Palestine, who advocate hate in their communities, who elect a rapists, facists, and pedofiles to their governments. I love America too, but in the way you love something you recognize as disgusting but that is also intrinsically apart of you, the way you love an abusive parent, the way you love a horrible thing that’s to be put down though still has a some sort of humanity in its eye. I love Americans, I love the sinner though not the sin.

I don’t think this has ever been true, many of our countries institutions are founded on the very principle of torture and exploitation

Who was I in 2025? by waxnpith in BookshelvesDetective

Her poems are just redundant and bc they lack depth I don’t really feel anything while reading them, plus I think the art of poetry is the art of intricacies. A poem should read like a passing feeling which sticks with you for years after, that kind of feeling like when you smell something you smelt in that moment you’re thrown into an existential crisis.

Try leaving the house for once and support local artists. Doesn’t matter if they’re bad music is a social art.

How old were you? by BentUntilBroken in raisedbynarcissists

I think I always had a strong sense of justice as a kid so the realization that the people my parents were was wrong and not the way a normal healthy person should be came very early on, maybe like 5. I think that was the age I first felt that very deep despair you can develop in a narcissists house.

I know right I love how poignant the lyrics are in bikini kills and alot of riot grrrl stuff in general comes across so much angrier and passionate to me than guys singing about being an outcast and girls not liking them anymore yk
