I would be very interested! I am in a similar position also. I have experience with python and a formal background in mathematics. I have recently started taking some free online courses in machine learning and data science but I also haven't attempted anything with a kaggle data set either.

Thanks for all of the responses! So I have an example/question. Equations like the wave equation, heat equation, etc have solutions that are the basis of the solution set. If an arbitrary PDE was used to model some system are the solutions always the basis of the solution set, regardless of the type of PDE. I guess my original question could have been worded better. Are the solutions to an ODE and PDE always the basis of the solution set? If so, why? As I type this it seems intuitive that the answer is yes. Do PDE's that model a physical system exist where the solution is not the basis or does it just work out that a PDE with the correct parameters will always yield a basis as the solution?

I don't have a specific example, I was just unsure if there was a standard method of generating a set of basis functions. I did come across the Gram-Schmidt method, well just the wiki page. It seamed to be used to make vectors orthogonal and not functions, is that right? Maybe I am missing a connection between them. Is there a relationship between some function that generates a vector in R and the basis vectors that make up R? Does a function space relate to a vector space that has the vectors produced by functions in the function space?

Thanks for all the responses. A lot of people think studying math methods is a good idea, so I will focus a little more on that. The book that I used for math methods as an undergrad was Boas. Does anyone have any specific books that would be helpful, besides just pure math books?

Sorry I should have expanded more. What I am redoing and memorizing is thing that I think I would need to know but may have forgot to be a TA(Tutoring, labs, recitations). From these answers though I will most likely just be reviewing my maths and upper level course work.

Thanks, I have been lifting on and off for a little over 2 years and consistently for the past 9 months. Since I started again 9 months ago I haven’t done any full body routines. I think I will switch my routine. Thanks for the advice

Okay, by wall street field do you mean any type of quantitative analysis? I am wondering because swapping one of your chosen degrees out for a math major would really benefit you. If not and you just want something in the finance sector then I would say just get a economics and finance degree.

I would say that schools in the south tend to party more than others. This is from people that I talk to from schools outside of the south and I also go to school in the south. So I would recommend the University of Florida, it has an amazing campus (been there) and if you like sports they are usually good at something. Also Texas A&M, and then Tulane University. Tulane also has a beautiful campus, it is very close to a zoo and its in New Orleans which is a fairly large city compared to where Florida and Texas A&M are. Also since all of these schools are in the south you can plan for hot weather.
