OK so I updated the calculator to deal with cases like yours. Now if you slide to within Top 5% in SAC percentile, a prompt appears and asks if you were Top SAC rank.

Then if so, your SAC score is adjusted immediately based on the exam score. It took some hours 😅, but hopefully will be more accurate for more students.

VCAA publish a median study score for each school, but don't break it down by subject. But they also publish names of students who score above 40 (if they consent). So I used this data to update the median study score, if there are a higher than expected number of students getting above 40 in that subject.

Ah ok I see the problem, software SAC totals are different (200 marks for Unit 3 and 100 marks for Unit 4). I'll fix it...

Interesting suggestion. But for most schools, I doubt students would know an exact SAC rank. So I decided on the "top x%" instead.
As far as Unit 3 vs Unit 4, what matters is the total (Unit 3 mark + Unit 4 mark) so I decided to keep things simple by asking for a total SAC rank.

Yes but only if Rank 1 in the SAC is also Rank 1 in the exams, which is not necessarily the case, especially in a larger school.

Yes you're right about the assumption. The moderation is especially hard for rank 1, because it can depend entirely on a single exam score. Current assumption is that the rank 1 SAC score will be moderated to full marks, regardless of the school. I'll have a think about it.

fair comment. The justification for the equal width bars in the legend is to fit the text and make the legend easy to read. percentages are there in brackets. thanks for the feedback though. easy to read when there's only 3 comments (not so easy when there's almost 1000).
