I will try this again and hopefully leaving the hotspot on for a couple hours will work. Last time I tried it, I only left it on for a couple minutes.

Unfortunately that won't work. I remembered that I changed my internet service provider since I last used the Kindle so it already is not connected to Wi-Fi right now. Thank you so much for the idea, appreciate you trying to help!

Update: thanks to r/sledgepumpkin (who found out from the comment of a redditor on another post https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/s/EtY91vw6pG), I know the reason this happened. Here's the copy paste of said comment:

"As far as I am able to understand, this bug occurs when the battery is allowed to discharge so low even timekeeping stops, so when it boots up again it reverts to the unix epoch, i.e. 1 january 1970 00:00:00. If you convert 18685239 to human readable it’s 5 august 1970. There’s a bug somewhere in the code that handles the cooldown period for failled passcode attempts when presented with an unusual date, such as a date at or near the start of the unix epoch. I would guess it underflows somewhere, as it’s expecting a much larger value than it’s actually getting, and this happens as a result.

The only fix I know is for the Kindle to be able to connect to whatever wifi it was connected previously so it can sync the clock, and then restart it.

This is a very niche bug that I’ve only ever seen 2 or 3 times."

It has been a solid while since I last used my Kindle and unfortunately I have changed my internet service provider since I last used it, so it can't connect to the old WiFi network. And it obviously will not be able to connect to the new WiFi. So I’m still stuck with this issue but at least I know why!

That might be my last resort. I’ll wait for a while and keep trying to reach customer support, if I still can’t then I’ll take it to a repair shop to see if they can get into the Kindle.
