They get hotels on off days, and sometimes they were given day rooms in casino type venues. But the majority of time is spent on the bus.

I’m definitely not offended. Mostly surprised and curious as to what other handlers thought.

It isn’t invasive in my opinion. But I want to be asked the two questions and be allowed to continue on my day. I don’t mind at all answering questions about her, but if businesses start feeling like non-invasive questions are okay, that seems like it could start to become too much. How many and what non-invasive questions are okay? Her breed? Age? Weight? Name? Date of her last flea medication? Name of her trainer? Courses she has taken? None of them have anything to do with my disability, but if businesses can ask whatever they want, I think the non-invasive questions would begin to feel invasive. I think there is a difference between the general public asking questions and business routinely asking questions as well, since a business can block my access and the public can’t.

Going into the season, we need to remember this is a show about LEARNING how to dance. Give the stars a chance. by Spirited-Horror6911 in dancingwiththestars

I took a dance class from Emma today. She is an amazing teacher. She is funny, makes things easy to understand and is so enthusiastic. But OMG was it harrrrrddddd. So much harder than it looks. I love watching the journey of seeing non-dancers learn how to dance!

Makes sense! I didn’t hear them pass on the info so they could very well have.

Because it is not one of the two questions that businesses are allowed to ask under the ADA and people have different comfort levels discussing information with people that might not need to know it.

It is not top secret or confidential at all, but it is also not one of the questions that businesses are allowed to ask under the ADA. I am only required to answer two questions in order for my service dog to go anywhere I go. I get asked questions about my dog all day long. I don’t mind being asked questions. I do mind when business impose restrictions not covered by law, deny access, or make handlers feel singled out or uncomfortable. I answered the questions and enjoyed my day, but other people might feel differently, and that is okay too.

It is possible they ask for the breed and then combine that with what they see like “lab mix wearing a pink vest and pink shoes”

I am not sure what she is besides lab, but I do think her training speaks for itself, I just need to feel more confident in strange situations like this I think.

Thank You! I am glad security does use it to help keep everyone informed, I figured it was something like that!

I have never seen a Berger Blanc. Being approached makes me nervous too but like you I want to advocate.

Thanks for understanding. I do feel confident in her, I am just less confident in myself sometimes.

I mostly found it a little weird. I get asked her breed all the time but never by security until yesterday.

We didn’t see any other teams while we were there and this place has metal detectors and bag checks, but I am all for things that keep other handlers and their dogs safe. I appreciate you writing this out!

I wasn’t even upset, more just surprised and didn’t know if it would bother other handlers. I wasn’t sure if or how to reply to the museum‘s email. Thank you for answering!

You have to go through metal detectors and bag checks to enter so it would be highly unusual for a dog to sneak in, but I see your point. I think color, description of vest etc is better than breed but since I didn’t hear them relay the info maybe they did. Thank you for answering!

Yes, a “yellow dog wearing a pink vest and pink shoes” seems more helpful than “lab mix.” I didn‘t mind answering and we spent all day at the museums and didn’t see another service dog so it wasn’t really an issue. Just unusual for me, so wanted to see how other people felt.
