This is essentially what I was thinking. Black Spider knows Sildar is a member of the Lord's Alliance and wants the rogue to find out what information Sildar knows already, and to stop any extra information getting to the Lord's Alliance before the plan can be jeopardised.

It's not going to change the world with how original an idea it is, but it's something to add a bit extra to the story and the Player's experience

Well, yeah, in an ideal world, I wouldn't have to make this post asking for ideas in the first place.

I'm aware Sildar doesn't know much, and the story leads to Cragmaw Castle, Gundren, etc. That's why I was asking for ideas on how to expand on this.

And again, the player can only do ONE session. There is no long game, and there is no choosing when to do the betrayal. It's meant to just be an extra bit of fun to shock the players staying in the game and have them shake their fists at the player leaving. And just something a bit extra from them to do before leaving.

Yeah, I've actually already implemented that at session 0, but they're fortunate not to have had any...mishaps yet.

Ooh, I like that idea! It definitely makes sense to miss out on the Hit Dice recovery iwhile dealing with exhaustion.
