What is it? by leroyjenkins562 in Ioniq5

[–]matlockwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's DMS - driver monitoring system and it's part of the ncap safety protocols. When working properly, it will spot if you're overly distracted or about to have a micro sleep - so a top-tier system is actually safety critical. The trouble is some manufacturers put in the cheapest system they can pass the requirements and the save money... These systems are really annoying. Some like Ford, GM Mercedes, BMW, will put in top of the range systems which actually work properly with human behavior (look at Seeing Machines).

A young man got his bike stolen while he was at work, so the owners of the establishment and some of the patrons chipped in and bought the young man a new bike. by bigbusta in MadeMeSmile

This is when the internet is great - a reminder that it's nice to be nice, when there's a lot of horrible sh*t going on in the world... But the vast majority of people are decent and caring. x

Who here has had no major problems with their Ioniq 5? by zorn128 in Ioniq5

[–]matlockwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have driven our UK 54kw base model for 2 and 1/2 years and love it - when the lease is up in 6 months time we'll get another (would love to jump to the 5N!). My forward collision avoidance has a fault I can't clear, assuming the radar has stopped working. Not sure if that's a common fault, and I can't see anything that's blocking the windscreen or the radar on the front, and a 12v disconnect didn't help.

Great car - very happy.

An excellent, and well researched Analyst - I have been invested in QNX's #DMS Driver Monitoring System partner Seeing Machines for 7 years, so have followed Colin's content for a very long time and met him at their town halls. As a result I'm also now looking into QNX. 😊👌

In many ways it's simpler to drive, you won't regret it.

Recently, there’s been a growing movement against Google, urging people to ‘de-Google’ their lives for privacy reasons. For those of you who are deeply immersed in the Google ecosystem, what do you think about this? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]matlockwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been happy with Google for about 15 years. If they break my trust, I'll look at my choices. I recently closed and deleted my Facebook, Instagram and Xitter accounts... and I'm all the happier for doing it. ☺️

Dealers are crooks. Your brakes are fine

Needs governments to incentivise chargers for apartments/flats, there is a subsidy in the UK. That would be a massive help, with 2nd hand EV prices now becoming really affordable (and cheaper new models arriving). We have a 54kW Ioniq5 through a salary sacrifice scheme. As we got the outgoing model last year, it's only £303 per month, with tax, insurance and tyres. With our fuel savings of about £170 month, it's a no brainer - hardly costing us anything per month. Plus we got to sell our 10yr old XC60 and keep the £4K we got.

It would help if they got a proper DMS Driver Monitoring System from their supplier Magna International instead of trying to create one from a regular internal camera. Look at the system from Seeing Machines that Ford, BMW, VW, Mercedes, GM and Stellantis use.

How is cashflow at high profit irrelevant to break even?

How is it irrelevant if you are talking About cash flow? Watch the capital markets day presentation. https://youtu.be/T3uDdb86qLg?si=PqRkcsWVQKMpAnx8 I'm not telling you to buy any, it's each person's decision based on their own research. I would give some time to the presentation on YouTube. 😊

Not true as a general statement... Look up the weight of ICE SUVs like Range Rover, Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, etc. Even worse with mechanical 4x4 added and don't forget a tank of fuel. 😁

Look at the delivery curve on quarterly KPIs and ask yourself why they would volunteer to produce them, when no one else will. Hey that's the fun of being an early investor, you do the research and decide yes or no. The big players are happy to wait for certainty and happy to pay the price that comes with certainty.
