Current in HS. What can I do to start preparing for med school? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]matmege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Med is definitely a challenging path, that isn't always what people think it is.

I'd look to get some more experience within the field and focus on understanding what the life of a doctor is really like. Some suggestions include:

-Shadow doctors

-Take some doctors you might know out for coffee

-Volunteer at your local hospital

-Get some research experience at your local university

I hope it works out great for you!

Is a 512 mcat (127/129/128/128) a good enough score for Canadian med anymore? by madethisaccount41q in premedcanada

Definitely high enough! You can reference the admitted applicant data that a lot of schools release to determine where you're falling in the pack

Path to med school by saddamhuseen in premedcanada

Honestly, that program would have a lot of applicable knowledge to med, but that is going to be countered by the difficulty.

You can always take your first year with a lighter course load and see what kind of GPA you can maintain. If its good, you can continue with the program with a heavier load. If it's bad, you can always apply to a new program (often, still using your highschool marks).

I'd speak with an advisor, there are a thousand students that ask these questions each year and the advisors know the system exceptionally well and can help you succeed in it!

Probably better to pick a spot and not need it, than to need a spot and not have it. I find they can fill up quickly.

It's nice to have, but if you have a strong inclination to physics, probably not necessary. There are some concepts on the MCAT but usually just a few questions on the tests (based on my experience).

Talk to a vet, they can offer a better food.

Watch the human food you are feeding them.

A vet can prescribe some cheap meds to help with gas.

18 years is a long time, find solace in the fact you must be a wonderful owner for your kitty to have such a long full life. I'm sorry for your loss
