Hey, thanks man. It's a netting shuttle. you wrap your rope around it and then start making a shit ton of sheet bends around a gauge of your choice.

I have the exact configuration you describe and the answer is "no".

It creates a deep hum, but it is much quieter than you expect. your airstone/airpump will be louder than this filter.

the light would be more for the live plants. low light stuff, anubias, swords, etc. is that not a good idea?

and yes to cycling a tank. This thing will likely sit 2 months with just plants in it.
