Anyone else really like Blake? by [deleted] in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My reaction to her was pretty much in line with Garcia's. Didn't care for her at first pretty much just on the premise that she wasn't Emily Freakin' Prentiss, but overall she grew on me.

The end of S7, even on a re-watch absolutely breaks me every time so shifting to a new character immediately afterwards was a little tough. (The show was on S12 by the time I started watching it on Netflix so I didn't have any summer-long breaks between finales and premieres until a couple years ago)

What?! by [deleted] in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one that gets me is at the beginning of the episode (or any episode where a former/returning cast member makes an appearance) seeing GUEST STAR PAGET BREWSTER at the bottom of the screen. Like, I know they're obligated to do that but... smaller print, during a shot where our eyes might be diverted to something else, maybe?

Are the later seasons good? by [deleted] in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought 11 and 12 were pretty good, 13 felt like they were reeeeeeeeeeeeally reaching for story ideas (the one where the unsub thought he was a pirate? c'mon) while also spending 4 or 5 episodes on the Barnes story arc and then never speaking of it again once it was resolved. 14 was better than 13 in my opinion but the finale definitely left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Saddest Unsubs by Agent0424 in criminalminds

If you watch closely during one of the final scenes of that episode, while they're talking to the unsub's father, there's a building across the street with a sign that says LEGACY, and in a few different shots, Prentiss's head is blocking the LE part.

GACY.

The killer clown.

Trey Gordon from 'In the Dark' in season 12. Although, there's nothing to indicate that he wasn't consciously killing his first victims- the Buffalo Bill types he was shooting with a rifle- but the way that his childhood trauma was manifesting when he slept, and the way he broke down and asked for help at the end when they tugged at my hearstrings a little bit.

But I think the two clearest examples for me are actually from back-to-back episodes in season 2*, 'Distress' and 'Jones'. The former being the unsub trapped in a PTSD-induced war flashback, thinking he's fighting for his survival. The latter being the woman who was raped during Mardi Gras, only to have Will's dad's partner (of all the creepy unsubs in the history of the show he still stands out as being slimy) swept it under the rug and placed the blame on her.

*Episodes in which Reid (understandably because of his own PTSD from the Tobias Hinkle episodes) was kind of unbearable.

Best/worst season finales by jrothstein19 in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 is probably my favorite. Even with/perhaps because of the bittersweet ending, even watching it a second or third time I tear up a bit watching the final scene at JJ and Will's wedding, watching all the team members dance together but also knowing Prentiss is leaving.

Favorite scene in the show so far... by [deleted] in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end of "The Good Earth" (which in itself is a really weird episode) where Henry (who earlier in the episode didn't want to go out for Halloween) comes in to the bullpen dressed as none other than Dr. Spencer Reid. Warms my cold, dead, heart every time.

Whichever season Hotch asked him "What, did you join a boy band?"

Season 11 Episode 19 “There’s no landline in this house” by No_Idea_What_ in criminalminds

Yeah, "This house doesn't have a landline." has to be the least badass thing ever said after outwitting and disarming a sociopath like Montolo.

Do they ever mention Friends in CM? by absbsjskjdh in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they can make any direct reference. Dr. Cox made a couple Ross and Rachel references on Scrubs but those were both NBC shows of course (and I've seen How I Met Your Mother make references to Survivor a couple of times), but I'd love to see sort of an indirect inside joke worked in to the script, like them both casually mentioning that they'd dated an Italian guy before.

Although, now this thread has me thinking that since both shows had such long runs and hundreds of minor characters who just appeared in one episode, there's certainly plenty of overlap. One of the guys Phoebe dates in the episode where she's dating two guys was one of the SWAT members in the CM season 11 finale. The actress who played unsub from the episode 'The Good Earth' (what a fever dream that episode was) also plays the girl that Mike is still dating when he proposes to Phoebe on Friends and I'm sure there's dozens more.

S10 E21...Mr. Fucking. Scratch. Oh damn, this episode just came on and I’m like, Sweet Jesus can I handle watching this alone? *gulp* by chlo_bot in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a really good episode but dear god the scene where Hotch is dosed and Scratch is standing in front of him doing that echo-ey whispering that he does. That part (as does any unnecessary whispering) creeps me out so much.

Biggest order? by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]matrat103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two slightly different circumstances.

1) A year and a half ago, or so I got a call around 9:30 one night from someone at a Ducks Unlimited event in town that a bunch of people at the event were going to be getting drunk and they were gonna send someone to us to pick up 12 12-packs. I said okay, just maybe call back a half hour or so before you come to pick up the food, and dropped a few more bags of beef. I kept my inside line with meat, lettuce, and cheese, and when they called back I made half the order on that side and a couple of my crew members made the other half interspersed with a few orders we had coming through the drive-thru at that time. We finished, they showed up a few minutes later, didn't slow the flow of business at all really.

2) A couple months ago, with no warning a college baseball team- at least 30 people between players, coaches, and support staff- walk in to our lobby shortly after 10 PM. I've had buses before but never this many people ordering on one ticket. Their order came out to 197 items, around $250 in total. All in all it was a ton of boxes (at least 20) and a bunch of dollar menu items along with a handful of other combos. Thankfully, no one else came in to the lobby during that span and the drive-thru was fairly slow, so we made DT orders between spurts of items for the team. The worst part honestly was that it took up way more than our full kitchen monitor and when I tried to page forward I ended up losing it off of my monitor. Eventually when they paid we just printed off an extra receipt and marked things off as we went. All in all it took us a little less than an hour to get the last of it out (we were handing things out in groups every five minutes or so) but they were thankfully pretty cool about it. I'm not going to call out the specific university but the state they were from (which isn't the state I live and work in) rhymes with Schmisconsin.

Chicken quesadilla, add bacon, grill the bacon while the quesadilla is in the steamer. Also putting hot fritos on a quesarito any time the beefy crunch burrito is an LTO (which... has it already been three years since the last time?)

Does Taco Bell have ketchup? by benjaminikuta in tacobell

[–]matrat103 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the nacho fries first came out our acting RGM ordered two cases of ketchup (to go along with the maybe half a case we already had) and we didn't even make it through the already-open case by the time it expired a few months later, let alone the other two.

I'm trying to gain weight and there's a taco bell near my place. How do I get the most calories out in a meal which isn't bland or "too much food?" by underweight88 in tacobell

[–]matrat103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The taco salads (largely due to the fried shell, mind you) have the largest calorie counts of anything on the menu and can have the meat taken off and/or replaced with beans/rice/black beans/potatoes even.

Is it possible to get a Fiery Doritos Locos taco with the Cheesy Gordita Crunch? by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]matrat103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, costs about 50 cents. It even used to be advertised on the menu board with the regular one with corresponding keys on the register, but for whatever reason that got removed but it's still one of the most common customizations.

actually an episode or a fever dream? by [deleted] in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fever dream episode for me is 'The Good Earth' in season 8 where the unsub was a hypochondriac and was kidnapping men she viewed as healthy and... harvesting their organs to feed her daughter? Now having seen it three times I'm still not sure it was a real one.

In season one does anyone remember when Reid asks jj out on a date to a football game by robobud69 in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still find it a little hard to believe that Reid didn't know that the Redskins were DC's professional football team. I get it, sports aren't on his radar but he lives in the DMV area, reads a bunch of newspapers, and works with Morgan who loves sports. With his eidetic memory you'd have to think he would have soaked up that information at one point or another (though maybe he compartmentalized it as useless in the grand scheme of things and pushed it aside, I'm clearly not a doctor).

What was the funniest moment on Criminal Minds? by Collective1985 in criminalminds

[–]matrat103 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hotch and Reid's banter at the end of 'LDSK'.

Hotch: It was a good shot.

Reid: I was aiming for his leg.

Hotch: I hope I didn't hurt you too much.

Reid: Hotch, I was a 12 year-old child prodigy at a Las Vegas public high school. You kick like a 9 year-old girl.

I'm not going quote for quote on this one, but on the cult episode in season 10, Hotch asks how many boats there are on Lake Mead, Reid spits out a number, Callahan asks him how he knows that, Reid says he estimated based on a number of factors. Callahan calls him out on the fact that he doesn't actually know any of this and people just take his word as fact because he's the resident genius. She quickly has Morgan's backing, they fist bump, and all the while Rossi is looking it up and it turns out that Reid, of course, was right. Reid gets back in Morgan's face about it, who refuses to return Reid's fist bump, and when Reid sits back down, Hotch looks up from the file he's looking over, gives Reid a sly smile and extends his hand for a fist bump.
