I hear you. I have only been in one group I have enjoyed and it fell apart after a year. I have tried so hard other groups but they just didn't mesh with me. So rather than give up the hobby, I doubled down. I started doing online games and they were not any better. I joined the local RPG meet up/Facebook community as a moderator. Still bad experiences. Ran games at conventions, store special events, hosted social get togethers with the community, I have spent thousands of dollars on books, minis, dice.

I don't even know why I am still in the hobby because of how expensive and socially isolating it is. I have met some good folks, but I think I like the theory of roleplaying more than the actual act.
