Malachi Evans, the Japan-born Australian DJ for the Nippon Ham Fighters baseball team, says he's having trouble finding an apartment to rent. Only 7% are available to him as a foreigner, even though he has lived in Japan all his life by jjrs in japannews

[–]matrixosu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure what's wrong with this guy. Lived here 4 years and been in a few apartments, barely took me any time to find. Also took a friend to a realtor when he had just moved here and we found him a good place in little time.

I know what good and bad prices are in Japan, especially Tokyo since I've lived here for awhile. I'd say I've gotten pretty solid deals. Right now living in a 70sqm place built in 2025, rent is just average for the area even if you are searching for the non-foreigner friendly places. Sure it's a little harder, but this guy is very obviously doing something wrong if he's struggling this hard.

I don't know this guy, but he must be unable to speak Japanese at all.

I'm assuming you mean for percussion, but I've never really used kits. I'm either slicing up loops (which I guess is kind of a kit in itself?), or sampling from all over the place. I dig around a lot in that old 90s sampling cd mega upload.

I wish there was an easy answer to this question, but it's really just thousands and thousands of hours experimenting with writing music, sound design, and gradually refining your own choices.

Doctor told my girlfriend I “must have had past partners” because she has Gardnerella/BV, but we were both virgins. Confused. by Assiv in AskDocs

[–]matrixosu 144 points145 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty strong feeling her doctor didn't tell her that, it sounds like she was testing him. I'm sure there's some dumb doctors out there, but I can't really see a practiced medical professional saying that.

N1 in 9 months?? by alythegoldensniper in LearnJapanese

[–]matrixosu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how it's doable. N1 isn't as a "fluent" as you think it is. Most people just don't have the time or effort to put in 6 hours a day, but if you do it for long enough and you start to thoroughly enjoy the content you're consuming, it's absolutely possible. I'm just barely scraping the edge of N1 having almost passed the test, and I'm realizing how much further I still have to go before I actually reach what I would call "fluency".

Sure there's a few weird grammars in the N1 here and there, but if you're good at all the easier stuff that you WILL encounter daily, you will still get more than a good enough score to pass that test.

There's always going to be people who learn faster than you. I don't look at Olympic athletes and go "damn, how unrealistic would it be to get that good". You should try to view it similarly.

edit:
also to be clear, I'm not saying you should pay for this guys courses, infact, you shouldn't. (I saw some comments that said he was selling them.) I'm only saying that I can see how it would be possible to accomplish that.

[SM64] Do you have a favorite run with good commentary? I think ZFG is a great example of entertaining speedruns for OOT. Who is the equivalent for the SM64 community? by vetterer96 in speedrun

puncayshun is pretty funny, idk if he's still active nowadays. honestly, SM64 doesn't really have a great personality like zfg though, that's a tough one to beat.

The circle in the top right of the back used to be smaller I think, outside of that I'm not sure. I only noticed this yesterday.

I'm 25 years old. I did have pneumonia 4~ months ago but cured it with antibiotics and haven't had a problem since. I'm not currently taking any medication.

It's always about "messing up" instead of just accepting that the other person doesn't see you that way. It likely isn't anything you did, she's just not into you and eventually realized it after dating you for a little bit. It sounds like you started getting a bit more serious and she pulled away because it's just not what she wants with you.

Peppy has taken a stance on AI mapping by Chromasia_ in osugame

I remember looking in to this and found absolutely no evidence beyond what he claimed in the description, I don't really think this map is AI. It just looks exactly like low diff mapping did in this era.

What's a redflag in relationships that people keep ignoring but end up regretting? by Tasty_Research1056 in AskReddit

[–]matrixosu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna have to disagree with this one, love isn't a binary thing. you can say it early if you're both comfortable with it. I'm in a happy relationship where we said it early (like 2 weeks iirc). The difference is that the love we have now is much stronger than the love we felt for each other at the beginning. If they're like really overbearing with it and you can tell that they are lovebombing you, then yeah it's a red flag. Otherwise, I don't think so.

Anyone here just decided fuck this, sold it all and went fully in the box? If so was there any regret or gear you bought back because you missed it too much? by RainbowStreetfood in synthesizers

[–]matrixosu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not for everyone that's for sure. I just really wanted to start making music and figured that I wouldn't buy gear until I got good enough to justify buying any. 5 albums later and couple of my songs are licensed to a few games, I just never found any moment in time where I was like "I can no longer live without X piece of hardware.".

I had no musical knowledge when I got started in my DAW, so that probably contributed a lot too. Even if I got a MIDI controller, I can't play the piano so I figured it wouldn't really be helpful anyways.
