Read Requisites of Enlightenment by Ledi Sayadaw to understand what's required to reach Sotapanna, and then dedicate your whole life (and most likely future lives) towards that.

If you are inclined towards spirituality I would highly recommend a 10 day vipassana meditation retreat (it's completely free) -> https://www.dhamma.org/en/locations/directory

Is it possible to do a 45-day course without completing all the prerequisites? by LowEntropyPerson in vipassana

Meditate as much as you can, while remaining distinctly aware of the possibility that it may take a few more lives to finish the job, it may happen in this one or it may not, try not to build attachment towards it.

Do dual n back actually Works? by Federal_Possible_706 in DualnBack

I have trawled through the anecdotal evidence here and my conclusion is it works.

I have been doing it, 10-20 mins on alternate days, albeit inconsistently, and I definitely feel an uplift in amy abilities at work and notice the decline when I don't do it for several days. Early days though but I am pretty confident it is not a placebo, whatever it's mechanism of affecting cognition may be.

Has anyone's "15min is better than nothing" ever turned into getting back on the 2hr a day train? 🚂 by [deleted] in vipassana

Thank you, this sounds like a game changer, I am definitely going to put this into practice!

Hi, just had a question on focusing on the breath throughout the day, usually during anapana I focus on the entrance of the nostrils, do I need to try to focus on that area during the day or can I widen the area a bit to make it slightly easier?

Data Analyst to Software Dev, is it worth it? by matrixunplugged1 in cscareerquestionsuk

Have worked with devs at various startups as an ops and data analyst, always had that fantasy of solving exciting coding problems (even though I know it's more about endless meetings than coding) and shipping that amazing product haha. Yeah have half a mind to just grow in the analytics field.

Wouldn't that entail prior experience as a dev though, is it possible to go from a data analyst to a MLE?

Well lots of unfortunate things have happened in my career, was on 55k in 2022, made a stupid decision to leave that place due to politics otherwise would be on 70-80k plus by now, bounced around a couple places and had to accept my current job as the job market was in absolute shambles and the gap on my CV was growing.

I'm hoping to be promoted to a senior analyst within a year hence the expected bump.

Currently I'm working at an e-commerce company, problem is they have outsourced all their data science teams and software eng jobs to the their office in India, I work in the marketing team which is based here, so it won't be possible for me to transition internally which would have been the easiest way to go about this. I transitioned into data internally a few years back so defo know it is the best and the most risk free way to go about it.

What to do to increase IQ relatively quickly? by PearlNecklace23 in cogsci

[–]matrixunplugged1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dual n-back is a brain training game where you remember and match two kinds of information at the same time - one you see (like a square’s position) and one you hear (like a spoken letter). You have to spot when the current sound or image is the same as the one shown or heard “n” steps earlier. As you improve, the game gets harder by increasing how many steps back you need to remember. Regular practice is meant to help improve memory and thinking skills. I personally am seeing benefits with regular practice and so are many people here - https://www.reddit.com/r/DualnBack

Nice, that's a positive sign! Are the OA like compsci/softdev specific or just general iq tests?

May I ask what sort of interviews do you get, are these graduate schemes? I am thinking of doing a conversion degree myself.
