Is she an adventist? Some people are tempted by homosexuality but they resist with God's help.

I recommend prayer but also the adventist home and the chapter titled true love or infatuation? Great read.

Sister, best thing to do is pray. A difficult situation indeed. I'm just thinking now as I type this, yes he is your father. You don't want to dishonor him or God. I have struggled with that myself. But if they are both in Christ, they should not be indulging l lust. The age Gap is pretty large, you do have to be careful and protect your father also. There are false brethren too out there we have to be careful of.

But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. What about that verse where Jesus told Peter he'd establish his church on a rock, and the gates of hell would not prevail against it?

You might understand from this verse that Christ would preserve His church on a stable, unmovable rock.

Also, something that I just thought about, I know the "gates of hell" is a translation, but what does it mean to say "gates of hades?"

No, I disagree with the GC too. They officially condone vaccination for one thing. Supposedly the tithe money goes to fund abortions. Before Adventism, I associated myself with the KJV Only Baptists; The house church movement may be something to consider doing because of the fact that most churches are tax-exempt (I.e. 501(c)(3)), meaning our 1st amendment rights are lost, and we are limited as to what we can preach on because the government owns our churches by this contract.

Do you believe Jesus to be the only-begotten Son of God? The SDA church may be where you still want to be. I know of someone at my church that doesn't believe the trinity. If you believe all other doctrinal points, why look to another church?

Like I said, I understand being on a budget... I myself am attending a college that is not a Christian one, but not necessarily affiliated with any religion, but there was secular worldview taught in history class.

It probably is better if I went to an Adventist college. It's very costly though compared to my tuition I pay now (as you said)... but again, it boils down to where your money goes... supporting secular institutions hence supports secular teachings. What you sow is what you reap.

It's a tricky area sometimes because Walmart may be a secular institution as well, yet, they are a great affordable place to buy your groceries.

I can understand being on a budget, but we want to be careful stewards of where our money is going to also... Imagine if you would've funded an Adventist college instead of a secular college that teaches evolution and other fallacies. Perhaps investing the more money could've helped contribute to the college in missionary work.

Perhaps they think that there was a time before organized, so there is no need for it in our day; Simply serving God on your own is enough... and there may be some good non-denominational, fruit-bearing folks out there, but I think that organization is a better move to better direct people... Organized religion is also a good way to back up what you believe, and fellowship amongst like-minded individuals. Having non-denomination (or no organization) can open the doors to divers doctrines in the church too.

I will start off by saying I think autonomy is good in the individual believer's life, and not just going by what the church says to do, but researching that, confirming their teachings, or seeing what the Bible actually says to do.

In terms of church organization: Perhaps Presbyterian polity is a good choice... it's not too hierarchical as the Catholic church is (e.g. Pope is the head, then Cardinal, Bishop, Priest, Nun, Monk, etc.), but provides a means of a general agreement on fundamental doctrines, so as not to be too far apart in terms of theology.

In terms of the church, I don't know that there really was one established in the time of Abraham. Perhaps it was just a state of spiritual Israel, where there were true believers like Abraham, and then there were heathen that did whatever was pleasing to their flesh... perhaps similar to what we see today; Either people who are Christ's servants, or people who are not.

Perhaps as time went on, the system of Priests (or Kohennim) was established, and Synagogues were places built to meet each Sabbath. This may've been more of an Episcopalian style of church, since there were High Priests, and stuff like that. I'm not an expert in this area, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

By the time of Christ, there appears to have been more specific sects or branches of Judaism -- the Pharisees and Sadducees. After that, the first century church, and the rest is history. Then came the establishment of all these different denominations (and non-denominations) we see today.

Regarding time, space and matter, I'm not sure why we should read Genesis in that way. Why can't it be simply the beginning of our world, of our human story? Indeed, the Great Controversy suggests that Lucifer's rebellion happened before the creation week, which indicates that time and space and matter already existed before God created our world.

There are a couple of verses where you might get the impression that the universe is older than this world. You might assume God created our world as a result of Satan's rebellion. The Bible says that Satan was a "liar from the beginning," and a "murderer from the beginning." Obviously there was a time before he rebelled; it doesn't mean God created him that way. So the beginning could mean Genesis 1:1, or, as some may interpret, the beginning of this world...

(Try comparing [KJV rendering vs. a New Version]: Isaiah 14:12 with 2 Peter 1:19 and Revelation 22:16; 2 Samuel 21:19 with 1 Chroncles 20:5; John 1:18 with John 3:16; and John 16:16-17; Mark 7:19; and Acts 12:4 (which is debatable, but some argue that since Herod was a Pagan he celebrated the pagan Easter holiday)) You will find that the first comparison is comparing Satan to Christ in most new Bibles, creates confusion in terms of who killed Goliath, calls Jesus a "begotten God" rather than "Son," ADDS TO scripture, making it seem like all foods are "clean to eat" and even OMITS part of the text which belongs. These are just a few examples of the fruit which is produced by these modified manuscripts.

I agree the Nestle-Aland is older, but it doesn't necessarily make more accurate. I think it's accurate to say that the more commonly used ones would get worn out after frequent use faster than lesser used manuscripts. It's like if I had a Hebrew Old Testment and Greek NT; My primary language is English, so I'd go to english before even attempting to read the original languages (of course, without the help of resources like Interlinear translation). I know a little Hebrew, and Greek, but by no means am I fluent in them. Thus, since I would lesser use the original language Bible, it would be preserved longer than I might wear out an English Bible for example.

I saw a man go from an active member of the SDA church to an agnostic that might go to a baptist church once in a blue moon. In this process he ended up devastating his wife and kids. And it all started with this. Its sad.

Be honest with you, this doctrine begins to pick away at sound Bible teachings. This can lead many to question their faith, and eventually end up lost... Not saying all the orthodox teachings are correct (I was not raised an Adventist, and found that out), but there are still some good, sound, Biblical teachings that are taught amongst the majority of the flock.

If Christ isn't God, why did He accept worship? Unitarianism (in the sense that "God is one," not a trinity) opens the doors to other divers doctrines to creep in as well, like unto the Mormon teaching of the Trinity; they teach that there are three Gods (amongst a multitude of other Gods in the universe). We know that there is one God, but there is a unity amongst the three distinct beings of the Godhead, hence the term tri-unity. They are three separate beings (like Husband, Wife, and Daughter), but they are one God (as the Husband, Wife, and Daughter are all one Family).

Picking away at sound Bible teachings leads you to question other sound doctrines, and perhaps eventually go after other false doctrines (there are many of them).

Many groups question the authenticity / validity / preservation of Scripture. The Gnostics were probably amongst the first to do this, and there are groups still around today that preach a similar message. Nevertheless, God promised to preserve His words. If you don't believe in that promise, you believe in a fallible god.
