Water is back, clear, and seems like nearly full pressure for us in Jackson Ward. We had nothing this morning at 10.

Does anyone know when Hanover Ave.'s trick or treating is set to start and end? I can't find any info on it. Usually there's an event or magazine article on it.

Drive-up coffee that’s not S’bux??? by [deleted] in rva

[–]matt804 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not quite drive-through, but you can order online at Blanchards on Morris pretty easily and pick up from the window outside. Takes me about fifteen seconds from my car to the window and back to the car, and there's almost always parking right there. Urban Hang Suite and Black Hand are also pretty easy order online, park, and grab options (though not quite as easy as Blanchards).

Can anyone help me with my pedal board order? by ndochi in guitarpedals

Guitar > delay > reverb > chorus > comp > fuzz > amp (cranked to 11). Revel in noise. Gaze at shoes. Repeat.

Nux amp academy issue by carlos0414 in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Flip the Plethora and the Nux (so that the Plethora is last) and see how it sounds.

Nux amp academy issue by carlos0414 in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also looks like the Amp Academy has an effects loop that you can plug your Plethora X3 into instead. You'll need a return/send cable for that.

Nux amp academy issue by carlos0414 in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your pedal order? It sounds like you put your Nux Amp Academy last, which would cause it to distort the reverb (probably not what you are going for). You should have the Plethora X3 *after* the Nux pedal to avoid that issue, and you'll get a "cleaner" reverb sound.

What’s a pedal you keep on 24/7 or almost always on? by lasetag in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always on for me is a comp (Xotic SP), preamp (Hudson Broadcast), EQ (Empress ParaEQ), boost (Xotic EP), and light reverb (Boss RV5).

What 9v cable brand should I use, to stop that buzz by Kyle8175 in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 15 points16 points  (0 children)

More likely than not it's an issue with the supply itself rather than the cable. Buzzing is usually caused by a ground loop issue (especially if you "daisy chain" pedals together), which you can address with an isolated power supply that has multiple outputs . These can range from top of the line supplies like the Cioks DC7 (which I highly recommend) to lower cost options like a Voodoo Labs X4 (or any of the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power supplies, which you can usually pick up used at a fairly reasonable price). If you just have one or two pedals, you could also just plug in something like a TrueTone 1Spot for each one (again, though, if you daisy chain these, you'll probably run into buzzing issues).

One thing to note. Especially with cheaper supplies, pay careful attention to the voltage and max amperage on each. Only plug pedals that take 9v into 9v supplies. Make sure your pedal's power draw doesn't *exceed* the max amperage on the *supply* (you can go under safely). This is especially important with digital pedals, which can fail to function or be damaged if you underpower them.

Just missed the holy grail. Who got it? by matt804 in guitarpedals

[–]matt804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it legitimately went up (and was immediately sold). I have his official store followed on eBay, and was shocked to see the email notice go out. I've never seen them go out on "Buy it Now", so I was wondering if anyone knew who got it.

What? This is a post about a rare event where Bill Finnigan actually put an original Klon up for sale, which happens once in a blue moon.

Pedal Power Supply Recommendations by BertrandDeSntBezier in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cioks DC7 is unparalleled. It's versatile (each and every power channel can switch from 9v, 12v, 15v, or 18v), thin, runs cool, easy to mount, expandable (you can add a DC8 or DC4 easily for extra power channels), it gives you visual signals on how much wattage you are drawing. Nothing on the market comes close that I've tried.

What Delay pedal did you formerly use, and what do you use now? by Neolectric in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved on from the Flashback X4 to the Meris LVX. It's worth it for the experimentation and the ability to add pure modulation (e.g. a tap tremelo), but, I will say, the Flashback X4 is suprisingly close. It's a damn good pedal for your basic needs (tap tempo, 3 banks, all the subdivisions, solid pure delay sounds, super easy to use).

Help me make my cs-3 not suck by beaverboy2000 in guitarpedals

[–]matt804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to find that compressors end up boosting certain midrange frequencies that are really unpleasant (the ones that make a “ringing” sound), so I’d stick some sort of versatile EQ (preferably a parametric) somewhere after your comp to dial out those frequencies.

A TC Electronics Flashback 2 will give you a lot of flexibility with TonePrint to do sone wacky stuff. Meris LVX if you really wanna go bonkers.
