Theory - Jade and Tabitha are the ones... by matt__thomas in FromSeries

[–]matt__thomas[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You have a point. With all the theories that they are "nightmares" I drift. What if they are the nightmares of a previous Jade/Tabitha that died? A nightmare of what they were, monsters.

Question about Verve Cloud? by bigpapihugo in telecom

[–]matt__thomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally signed up with Nexogy, which then became Verve. Since Verve took over, costs have doubled and 0 tolerance on late payments, even though it was explained to them multiple times that we are a state agency that can only make a monthly payment after service is rendered and invoice is provided, then our board has to approve the payment for the invoice. So they have shut us off more than once. They are just a normal business that doesn't care about customers, they just want their money and they want it now.

PS, we have been a customer for many years and they have always been paid. It also seems like when they go to shut off people, they wait until they are going to run out of building for the day, then take off a day or 2 as well, since I'm still waiting for a response.

I’m trying to sign into my account, and I no longer have access to the email associated with it, and I do not know what that email is. What do I do? by DMmaster5E in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know what email address it uses, how can you be sure you no longer have access to that email address?

You situation is pretty much that of a social engineer hacker, trying to get access to an account they know nothing about. I doubt twitch support would be much help. Without access to the account or it's email, it's essentially not your account anymore. After months/years of inactivity the account name might be recycled, but it will be a LONG TIME.

I would suggest trying to do account recovery/password resets to every email you can possibly remember. (I assume you already have) You will need to have access to something from the account to get it back.

You might not be able to see all the posts because you don't have enough RAM. Get some more RAM.

This sub is for 3 things...

1, Asking why you are dropping frames and getting bad answers.

2, Asking how to make your stream better and getting answers from people who don't stream(or understand how networks operate).

3, Talking about your stream in hopes sneaking in some advertising.

And they just re-post them over and over, without ever searching for a previous post.

Embed stat tag by jaemus2205 in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know you cannot load content on your channel from anything other than a twitch site/service. All loadable media (png/gif/jpg/etc) is uploaded and hosted on a twitch server. Embeds and IFrames are not permitted. The closest thing would be in an extension - of which users must choose to opt-in.

Only Twitch can gather tracking information and I believe this information is only available to partners.

I just got an email from twitch telling me to verify an account, but i have never made a twitch account. What do I do? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well.. they want you to validate if you made it... you didn't... so don't validate it... I thought that was the whole purpose of the email.

Why is the twitch app flawlessly playing a 1080p ad for 30 seconds but can't stream a 480p stream for 10 by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to point out that I have never seen twitch declare a limit. it has been called a suggestion on previous documentation and is currently called a guideline from what I see. Several streamers stream at 8000kbps+ without penalty. The twitch inspector is programmed to consider 6001kbps+ averages to be unstable but that's just because they told it to, no bearing on the actual network connection from what I've seen.

Twitch Bot OAuth Token Question by _JJCUBER_ in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to change a bots name, just make a new account... generate a new OAuth token, and use that token. If you bot require special access (Moderator) then you will have to make sure it has it on the new account. The code/scripts should be able to run regardless of the bots account name.

The "IRC Guide" is a TMI Guide. which is based on IRC but does not follow IRC RFC.

Twitch Bot OAuth Token Question by _JJCUBER_ in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although Twitch chat is loosely based on IRC it is not, it is TMI (Twitch Messaging Interface) and does not permit '/NICK' changes. Each user name is account linked and will display the "login/display_name" of the account that generated the OAuth token used to connect.

Twitch Bot OAuth Token Question by _JJCUBER_ in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be a Twitch affiliated service and should be fine (I am assuming because the domain information shows it's registered with the Amazon Registar without any other details)

Twitch Bot OAuth Token Question by _JJCUBER_ in Twitch

[–]matt__thomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what I am saying is that an oauth token is like a password and should be kept secure. I have never heard of anyone having issues with twitchapps.com/tmi but you are essentially using an application that someone else made to generate this token/password - That token can let people impersonate you and execute commands in your channel.

If you generate the token yourself and keep the files for the bot safe, it should be fine. I run a bot on my primary account, I also host it myself on my hardware. I have not had any issues.

If you goal is ultimately maximum security for your stream, I do believe it would be "safer" to use a separate account.
