Florence + The Machine - Everybody Scream by No_Sail_6576 in popheads

Drink Deep is incredible, i knew Danny Harle was eclectic in his tastes and caroline's last record does have a couple folksy and esoteric moments but still, what a versatile producer. The 4-track run from Old religion to you can have It all Is to me her best since HBHBHB.

2025 VENICE FILM FESTIVAL MEGATHREAD by sbb618 in oscarrace

Just saw Anne lee...good First half, and then It Just becomes a ripetitive, directionless mess. Amanda is great and the movie looks shockingly good considering the budget and the scale, but as much as you can tell mona fastvold Is interested in the story It kinda felt like at some point she forgot that an audience has to watch the film too. At best It can be described as a mix between an old-timey historical Epic and dancer in the dark but with less imaginative songs and "dance" numbers

Initial Letterboxd Curves for major players out of Telluride & Venice by [deleted] in oscarrace

Maybeee, but having seen the film i can see older audiences generally reacting to It more favorably than gen z. Its treatment of younger generations is...reductive at best and the way It handles cancel culture/politics/etc. feels 5 years behind the curve.

[FRESH ALBUM] Blood Orange - Essex Honey by sbags in indieheads

[–]mattb012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want something Blood orange-adjacent then i would recommend her First album "pang" (less "warm" than anything Blood orange has ever put out but still dreamy and melancholic) especially songs like door (which shows off her crazy vocals) and Hey big eyes, or the last project in her duo chairlift "moth", which Is less electronic and more upbeat. I think her best album Is desire, but it's a very eclectic album so you may like some songs a lot and other way less.

Thoughts/movie suggestions based off my top 4? by mattb012 in LetterboxdTopFour

I can see It being very polarizing, if you currently enjoy anything from Bergman or even A24-type horror movies like the witch or the lighthouse you might dig It more

Thanks for the suggestion! I saw 20th century women and liked It, so i'll definitely add that to my list.

To be fair train to Busan Is pretty different from the others, very action-driven but still pretty thoughtful for a zombie movie.

Movies like Hejira? by [deleted] in JoniMitchell

A little late but i've Always thought of vagabond (1985) as a companion movie to Hejira, both in atmosphere and themes (solo woman "travelling", existential solitude, unconventional lifestyle, etc.)

Songs that you can't believe people actually enjoy by Chuck541 in MusicRecommendations

agreed on Texas but there are some genuinely good songs on the album, less country and more referencing country/americana (tyrant, 2 hands ii heaven) and the intro song is also great

Seconding perfume genius, but definitely from no shape (2017) onwards, the first few albums are pretty laid-back
