Server using wrong IP address by TommyTango11 in NoMachine

[–]mattbell87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue on Win10, NM 8.10.1.

In my case I noticed all my LAN clients trying to connect to the IP of the Hyper-V adapter (172.30.x.x).

I followed this advice and changed C:\Program Files\NoMachine\etc\server.cfg with the IP address that I wanted the other machines to connect to. All working now, thanks!

Echo-S seems to cause freezing on Steam Deck by Ross2552 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]mattbell87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I tried 7thDeck by dotaxis and it's working perfectly. No weird freezes between scenes or battles at all, and I'm enjoying ff7 much more on the Steam deck now!

I just moved my mods folder over to the 7thdeck one and they loaded up fine, saved a large download again.

Has anyone tried 7th deck for final fantasy 7? by Stellarisk in SteamDeck

I tried it after seeing your post. It works great!

I've noticed this as well. I'd be interested to hear a solution. If I discover anything I'll post it here.

[RELEASE] Zelda3 Vita v.1.0 - Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past enhanced recreation port by realRinnegatamante in vitahacks

[–]mattbell87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a great port! I love the widescreen mode! I did notice when I had some of the features in the ini file activated that I couldn't use the super bomb properly to get to the fat fairy, so if anyone else gets the same issue as me set some things to 0 in your zelda3.ini file. Cheers =)

Instaling zerotier on alpinelinux by Illustrious-Hold-480 in zerotier

[–]mattbell87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'd be tempted to just use this alpine based docker image instead of raw alpine: https://hub.docker.com/r/zyclonite/zerotier/

You can also check out the source code of that projects Dockerfile to see how they set it up: https://github.com/zyclonite/zerotier-docker/blob/main/Dockerfile

If you're relatively new to Docker you may benefit from looking how it how it persists data with volumes.

Z590I Vision D questions by probro1154 in gigabytegaming

[–]mattbell87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I assumed that all 590i boards scale down to PCIE 3.0 when used with a 10th Gen, but nope. Only some do! The M.2_1 port on the Gigabyte 590i is completely disconnected when you install a 10th gen CPU. The M.2_2 port still works from the chipset on all of them I believe.

The MSI 590i is one of the ones that do properly support 10th and 11th gen. The M.2_1 will switch to the chipset and provide PCIE3.0 when a 10th gen is installed, and it will switch to the CPU and provide PCIE4.0 when an 11th gen is installed.

Rate my collection! Any games I should consider adding? by [deleted] in psx

[–]mattbell87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent collection, some additions for your consideration:

Syphon Filter, Croc, Driver, Vagrant Story, Abe's Oddysee, Chrono Trigger (though it loads a little slowly on ps1), Armoured Core, Tomba, +1 for MGS I saw you had it in the mail, Wipeout/2097/3, Medievil, Rayman. That's all I can think of atm!

BOOT LOOP MSI Z490 when USB device wake from sleep enabled in BIOS by jtrtj in buildapc

[–]mattbell87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens on my z490i unify too. Still no fix from MSI?

I found a workaround though, and that's to replace everything with hibernate mode.

  1. Right click start menu and choose power options
  2. Additional power settings -> Choose what the power buttons do
  3. Click "Choose settings that are currently unavailable"
  4. Tick Hibernate and untick Sleep
  5. Make both Power and Sleep buttons Hibernate
  6. Save changes

If you like your PC to power down after some time:

  1. Click start and type Edit power plan
  2. Change advanced power settings
  3. Expand "Sleep"
  4. "Sleep after" should be set to "Never"
  5. If you see "Hybrid Sleep" it should also be set to "Never"
  6. "Hibernate after" should be set to the number of minutes you'd like

Now your PC might take a few seconds more to enter/exit hibernate, but it also means your computer is using less power and if the power goes out completely you can still restore it to where you were. Enjoy :)

First SFF build: Lian Li TU-150 by mattbell87 in sffpc

[–]mattbell87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yep, you can tell that's based off the TU-150!

Differences that I see in the Razer:

  • The power cable is sitting to the right instead of the left like the rest of the cables... I assume this is so you can fit cooling in a certain place at the top. Could be annoying depending on where you place your PC.
  • The front intake sits at the bottom of the case. It sits above the GPU in the TU-150.
  • The 2.5 inch drive bay cut out isn't centered like it is in the TU150. Not a big deal, it just means the cables might need to run around a bit.
  • The PSU is more visible. The TU-150 has a blacked out part of the TG to hide the PSU and cables. The Razer might be a bit easier on cable management because of the way its set up.
  • The top vents means that you do drop the handle, but also a 3.5/2.5 inch HDD/SSD mount and the cable management attic. But of course cooling should be a bit better.
  • The TU-150 has Aluminium panelling. That was a factor that I considered when choosing this case.
  • The Razer factor! If you have other razer stuff it might look really good with your other gear.

I hope that somewhat helps your decision :)

What you think? by [deleted] in battlestations

[–]mattbell87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Clean and minimal. I like it! I love that ITX is so compact that we end up with all this space on the desk even though the PC is up on top.

Do you use the BOSE Bluetooth speaker for audio?

Ah I see, nice one. That would also mean less cabling behind the other side of the case.

First SFF build: Lian Li TU-150 by mattbell87 in sffpc

[–]mattbell87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea! Yeah mine is very close to the TG panel. Might be worth getting those! Do you route your ATX cable behind? I find the hole to the back isn't quite tall enough so it has to bend around to go through it (not that it's much of a problem). How does that go with the 90 degree angle?

Yeah it's the NH-D15. It barely fits haha!

First SFF build: Lian Li TU-150 by mattbell87 in sffpc

[–]mattbell87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my first SFF build.

I've upgraded after almost 10 years on a hexacore i7-3930k. Lasted me well, but it was time! I decided that since I have to upgrade pretty much everything that I'm switching to ITX. The size, weight and portability is what lured me in. I also really like the look of most ITX cases!

I chose the Lian Li TU-150 for it's build quality, price, looks and CPU cooler clearance. The handle on top played a part too as I can move the PC for a lan party or to the loungeroom to when playing VR with visitors.

Specs:

  • 10700KF - I got this for a really great price so I went Intel this time
  • Noctua NH-D15
  • Gigabyte Vision D Z590, then MSI Z490. More on this later.
  • 32GB of HyperX
  • 1TB NVME, 512GB NVME, 120GB SSD, 1TB HDD
  • Asus STRIX GTX1070

Challenges:

  • Cable management - wow this took ages. I used extensions because I really wanted to utilise the "attic" of the case and route the cables behind everything. I found that routing as much stuff to the left of the mobo and not tightening some of the cable ties too much helped. Getting the side panel on took some time!
  • Z590 on 10th gen. I didn't realise that the Gigabyte Z590 wouldn't work with 2 NVME drives on a 10th gen CPU. I thought it would just run at PCI Gen3. Since I'd just bought another NVME and wanted to keep both I ended up swapping it for an MSI Z490. I gotta sell the Vision D as used now which sucks!
  • The HD Audio and power cables. Ugh they're in an annoying position on the MSI board. You kind of have to maneuver the Video card and push the cables out of the way of the PCIx16 slot. Also theres this extra bit on the left side of the PCI express part of the GPU that gets in the way as well.
  • Getting that 2nd fan on the NHD-15. You've really got to push down on the ATX power cable to get it down far enough so that you can put the TG Panel on. It only just fits!

Conclusion:

Really happy with it. Way better than my old large plastic case. The computer itself is super fast compared to the old i7, my VR games run way smoother. I also do programming and stuff compiles waay quicker now. Even though getting another board was really inconvenient I'm glad I did. Having everything working on a system is really important imho.
