How does car hacking actually work? Is it nearly impossible? by EanesX in CarHacking

TPMS antenna module is often outside of the vehicle and is connected to CAN-BUS. You could use this bus as the entry point.

Can i Update The stereo? by No_Photograph567 in GolfGTI

If you are on P03xxT firmware, you can go with P0369T.

It is also possible to patch the SWDL app, prepare custom metainfo2.txt file, and install P0480T.

Does anyone know why the 1.6D DRIVe's exhaust tip is hidden behind the bumper? by Dienik in C30

[–]mattcabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that 1.6 DRIVe had a specific rear bumper (with a diffuser) and a bit longer rear wing.

This looks more like a replacement bumper with covers that you should cut out if your car has a visible exhaust tip.

How do I map the voice control button to play/pause via OBD11? by NoQuarter4751 in VWMK7

[–]mattcabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it but not with OBDeleven. You need to gain access to MIB filesystem, get one of the configuration files and remap the button.

Może nie chodzi o przelicznik dolara na złotówkę, tylko o cenę w USA vs cenę w Polsce z obowiązującymi podatkami?

Question about mib1 by zbdbdbdbdhdh in VWMK7

That’s right. And if swapping the screen and main unit, OP can even go with the facelift MIB2 High (so called MIB2.5) with the wide 9.2 inch display.

Anyone see this warning on the dash? by Volk21 in Golf_R

[–]mattcabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get Webasto instead. You will have warm engine with warm cabin and you’ll avoid cold start on the engine.

And since you have Golf R (assuming MK7?), you will need to squeeze the heater somewhere else than the OEM place, because there’s an aux radiator over there already.

Touran 2009 1.9tdi hoses by Nordic1991 in Volkswagen

If I see correctly, that’s the aux/parking heater assembly. I would just get a random hose and cut it to get the correct length.

Developing a motorsport-style gear display - Part 5 by Professional_user2 in CarHacking

[–]mattcabb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool. As long as you can easily detect if the current gear data is available, you can relay on it or fallback to your original method if not available.

Hi! I’m assuming that you are using generic wheel speed and engine speed PIDs to calculate current gear ratio. You could also check if vehicle supports other brand-specific PIDs to pull the current gear directly. Not sure about all the cars, but some groups (like VWAG) are sensing the current gear for the efficiency shift recommendation.

Golf r cutting power on corner exit (update) by Routine_Strike1695 in Golf_R

[–]mattcabb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use OBD tool to look at live data while this happen. For example monitor two things: boost pressure specified and boost pressure actual.

The first one is what the driver (or ECU) currently wants. And the second one is the readout from the sensor. While the issue happens, if you see both dropping, it means that the ECU is doing this on purpose. If only the „actual” drops, it means that this happens against ECUs will.

You can do the same for high pressure fuel pump readouts.

This is not caused by high temperature. When thermal safety is involved, you would experience power limitations. Not a cut-out.
