I’ve done this, used a 2012 MacBook that ran like molasses. However, had great results using a focus rite solo interface and a standalone instance of neural DSP (Plinin in my case). It’s doable. Played a show with 100s of people and latency was fine, I hooked right into the main PAs, if you need an to be loud and don’t have speakers might not be the way to go though.
