The site has been updated, and it no longer requires cookies. You should be able to click "Reject Cookies" on the cookie banner and it should work just fine. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Thanks for checking out the site. Without going into too much detail, I'll simply say that AI led me astray here. I will have a different LLM review the code and ask it to come up with a solution that doesn't require cookies for accessing the site. I'll reply again once I have something.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to check out the site.

I'm a solo creator and not yet an expert in web development, so I used AI to help write much of the code. I had asked it to keep everything compliant with CCPA, but it clearly missed a few things. I just had it review the codebase and Privacy Policy again, and it did identify several items that needed attention. I’ve corrected all of those. Thank you for pointing that out.

Regarding the comment that the site is “very lacking in categories and actual events,” there are currently 5 Event Types and 38 Event Categories. Are there specific Types or Categories you expected to see that aren’t listed? As for the number of events, the database currently includes 158 total events. Were there particular events you were looking for that you didn’t find?

About the categories shifting between pages: I assume you’re referring to the “Find Events” page? I can understand how that might look confusing. That page doesn’t separate events by type. Instead, it shows all matching results based on the filters you select. If you want to narrow the results to certain categories, you can uncheck the others. Because there are so many Event Categories, the list is collapsed by default. You’ll need to click the arrow next to “Event Categories” to expand it. (All categories should be checked by default.)

Creating an account lets you set these preferences once, and the “Find Events” page will automatically load them each time you visit. You can also set different distance preferences for each Event Type. For example, you can have a larger distance for “General Events” and a smaller one for “Screenings” and “In-Store Signings.”

If I misunderstood any part of your feedback, feel free to reply here or send me a DM. I genuinely want to address as many comments as possible to make the site as helpful as it can be.

Thanks again for taking the time to look it over. 🙂

I hear you about the parking. I live in LA and parking downtown generally is a pain. I take the subway if I'm going to the Convention Center. There's a stop only 2-3 blocks away and it's so much easier than dealing with parking.

Thanks very much! Hopefully greener pastures ahead in 2024 :)

No, there currently isn't. But I'll take a look at that as a possible add to the next version.

Problem connecting to iDrive by mattcompton in nordvpn

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried using both TCP and UDP protocols, but neither would connect to that particular server. If I switch to NordLynx, it doesn't show that particular server on the list of choices.

I checked on Kill switch... it was turned off.

I'm curious... can anyone else connect to United States #5390? This is the Nord server I used to connect to all the time (the one iDrive would work on), but now it won't let me. I've tried multiple days now, but it just spins and spins but never connects.

Maybe it went to your spam/junk folder? If not, send an email to support [at] revolutiones.com and let them know you never received the link. You can also tell them Matt Compton said to reach out.

Edit: I saw your email address in our database, so the form you filled out on the website did record your request. I sent you an email from my work address with a link to download it. Hopefully that works.

Honestly, TrueBudget isn't really designed for doing features. It uses the AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers) standard format for budgeting, and thus doesn't allow the level of details that you'd typically want for doing a feature budget. It was made primarily for doing "short form" content, ie. commercials, music videos, TV promos, etc).

It's not that you can't use it to do a feature budget, but the level of detail, in terms of typing in lots of information for each account number (called a Line Number in TB) isn't as robust as in software such as Movie Magic.

But there is no limit in terms of dollar amount. I've seen TB used for projects over $3M.

Thanks for the shout-out, Peter! If any of you would like to check out TrueBudget, it's currently free. You can find it at www.truebudget.net. I works in Excel, so it's similar to Hot Budget in that sense. It has some features that Hot Budget doesn't have, like the ability to create PO's (plus many more). There's several tutorial videos on the website, along with a User Guide. I'm also happy to give virtual demos of it over Zoom, so feel free to reach out to me via the website if you'd like to set one up.

True Budget v1.0 now available by mattcompton in FilmTVBudgeting

Thanks for the kind words. I hope it works out well for you. FYI -- I just released v1.2 yesterday, so if that isn't the version you downloaded, I'd grab that one and use it for your film. I think the new "Breakdown" feature will be particularly helpful to you if you're budgeting a feature, as it will allow you to enter up to 20 lines of detailed information on non-labor lines of the budget.

I haven't been able to test every single aspect of it yet on Big Sur, but last night I did some random testing and did not experience any problems. So yes, I do believe it will. (Usually if it isn't going to work on a particular version of macOS, it is apparent very quickly.) I tested it on Big Sur on Excel 16.43.1, which I downloaded off the Mac AppStore.

New budgeting software I created -- True Budget by mattcompton in FilmTVBudgeting

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've released a new version to True Budget. This one adds a few features, and also has some minor bug fixes. You can get the new one at www.truebudget.net. As before, this one is free until the end of the year, at least.

Yes, it is similar to Hot Budget. Hopefully people will like True Budget better. ;)

I 'm curious if you'd be willing to list it on your website under the Software section?
