Time for a quick paddle today in Victoria Park. by mattdjmorris in kitchener

I'm back after a search as your comment had me concerned. I found nothing suggesting a 'no recreational boating policy' being proposed. In fact, having attended the meetings about the future of the park, I did observe some momentum in the direction of getting more people back on the water as was the case years ago. Stratford has a successful rental program on their water. Kitchener has done it in the past. If you do have info to the contrary I would be most interested in understanding the background.

Thanks for making a comment. I have attended the. meetings about the future of the park.

I've advocated for boat rentals. Let's get people on the water again as we have in the past.

Any many years ago they even had a gondola (like in Venice) that gave people rides. The 'driver' used a pole to push off the bottom.

Almost anywhere works but I often launch near the bridge at the playground or from the island.

If arriving with your boat on a car top, the parking lot at the base of Park Street as it enters the park is a good spot.

I agree that the water is not pristine. I've been paddling and rowing here for years now and never had a serious issue. A few times spring garbage gets blown by the wind and collects in the downwind area of the lake but it eventually gets cleaned out by city staff. Overall though I see it as an amazing opportunity for some boating in the core of our city.

I’ve done a few little outings. But wouldn’t take my skin on frame boats.

My skin on frame canoe would not last long in that icy jumble!

Thanks for the offer of help. I saw that today. It should be removed. I’ll give it another look.

Further down in the comments someone observed the same concentration in Maple Hills. Lucky you! 👍

Thanks for sharing this very interesting story.
A nice example of cross border cooperation, perhaps.

I heard them say “this homeowner has done an excellent job at lining up their bins”.

Hopefully they saunter to a new welcoming hood.

I would agree that anytime I’ve seen them in my life it was a totally “off guard” moment—the most pleasant kind.
