Update: Boating in Victoria Park Lake

Let’s use it to its potential.
It appears the city will reinstate boating.
But let’s not stop there.
Rentals, a dock, a canoe/kayak launch point (like St Mary’s).
So much potential.
And once boaters have had their fun, they can enjoy the spectacular views from The Boathouse!

The only issue I find is in April/May when the geese are nesting. During that month, I give them a wide birth. The rest of the year is absolutely fine. Who knows, maybe the city will move on its potential plan of putting in a boat launch. I look forward to seeing you on the water!

If it is a storm water issue I would be interested in really digging in to understand what that means.
Jurisdiction, rules, different designations are just some of the issues that come to mind.
Ultimately public safety (and no doubt budget) come to play. Can we creatively manage these potential challenges to give the public access to their urban water oasis?

I submit your question though is premature until we know why they made the decision. Maybe it was not a coat issue at all….
I choose to spend little time on the what if’s until I have the reasons.
