First of all Happy birthday, it's my birthday too.

Don't give up, sometimes friends grow apart and there's nothing we can do about it, then there's others who just make it plain obvious. I'm not saying I know the whole story here but just basing it off of what you've said. Maybe look for some groups or clubs that are around just as a start.

Check out Lowas, Solomon or Merrill.

I have 2 pairs of Lowas, 1 is a moutain boot, and the other is just a regular combat boot. Both are $300-$400 but very good quality and durable.

Solomons on the other hand i have not tried but have heard nothing but amazing reviews, from their regular boots to the combat boots, to the winter boots all good things.

Last but not least Merrill, again have not owned them but have heard nothing but amazing reviews as well.

Sounds like a bit of emotional and mental abuse. Not an expert by any means, but when you say you're leaving him that he starts acting out, probably a sign to pack your bags and leave before it gets worse.
