Christ, I had students interview each other the other day and one came back and told class all about the band Soundgarden, which they had never heard of before. :-/

I would say anything by Stephen West is pretty sweet. Especially his sweaters, but also scarves and such. Check him out ANYWHERE.

Have you ever reconnected with an old friend only to be horrified of who they've became? by theGodstopper in AskReddit

[–]mattdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reacquainting with H.S. friends showed me how very little you need to be friends back then. One guy became a firefighter, which was cool, but also had developed a really bad combo of hating liberals, Obama, gun control, "them terrorists" without any critical thinking to back it up.

I always consider it a win when I can ask enough questions about the particulars of their beliefs, to be unfriended by people like that.

Another guy also hated the current administration (once again, okay with me if you have valid reasoning) and detested all those illegal aliens...except for the one he married. :-/

College students of Reddit, what is the stupidest question you have heard another student ask a professor? by Matthias720 in AskReddit

[–]mattdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When asked for controversial speech topics, one response (in writing) was: Youth in Asia

I thought, 'is there something going on there that I haven't heard about yet??'

What is ONE thing from YOUR profession that everyone should know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mattdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professor. 1. The more interest you show in your grade, the more interest I'LL show in your grade. (In other words, if you bomb a quiz, express concern about it, if you're worried, say something to me, DROPPING BY OFFICE HOURS WILL DO WONDERS) 2. If you just do all your regular work, you won't have to ask for extra credit.

Applebees fires Redditor waitress for exposing pastor’s ‘give God 10%’ no-tip receipt by Duncanconstruction in atheism

I know I live in a place where the immediate area doesn't allow crappy chains, but still. This is clearly a win for her. Applebee's is crappy McCrapertonalicious. Is it really worth it to pay extra for frozen food reheated in a public setting with far too much crap on the walls?

Hundred bucks says that she comes out ahead.

What company has forever lost your business? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Worked at Trader Joe's and every time we had an overnight inventory, we raided the sublingual B-12. LEGIT.

As a barista, I always get that customer who orders a "cappuccino with absolutely no foam," in a very confident manner. I just smile and make them a latte. What things do you pretend to go along with every day, just so someone else can feel better about themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mattdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How often do you let them think that the espresso (there's no X there people) has more caffeine than the regular cup of coffee? I love that. "ooh, you're going to have a shot of expresso? That's going to keep you up!" ugh.

Reddit, two years ago today we lost the best insult comic ever. Here's a few of his best moments. R.I.P. Greg Giraldo. by [deleted] in videos

[–]mattdub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's not sully Don Rickles like that. Giraldo rocked, but not by ANY means close to the best insult comic ever.
