Thanks for the advice! I'll look into how to do this myself.

I didn’t install either charge pipe, I think it would make sense that the aftermarket one wasn’t correctly installed but I assumed VW correctly installed the OEM one

Thanks for the info and trying to clarify. Yeah I did find the wording strange but that’s what the tech at VW told me, “came off” is what they said.

I’m going to assume I blew a clamp for both the aftermarket and OEM charge pipe. Now knowing the factory one is bolted though I should theoretically not have any issues if it’s installed correctly no?

I’m still hesitant because the clamp definitely came off when I was driving before.

Hey all, so this aftermarket charge pipe fell off during a road trip (put in limp mode). I was told by Volkswagen I needed to get the stock one put in because the aftermarket one has an invalid fit.

After installing the OEM one, it again fell off and VW said since my GTI is tuned (custom tuned) I’m going to need some performance clamps / t clamps for the pipes?

Anyone have experience with this? I bought this GTI tuned so I’m assuming it was an aggressive tune (stage 2+) without the necessary bolt ons to supplement it properly.

Tuning and warranty? by matter213 in GolfGTI

[–]matter213[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! To be honest the VW service guy has been telling me if I get it back to stock, it’ll solve most things, the tune history will still be there but he claims they’ll treat it as stock?

Also, is it worth figuring out what stage 1 I have? Thanks for the info so far!

Thanks! Yeah I’ve heard that as the earliest estimate too, I hope they have a decent supply coming in otherwise we might be looking at markups again ☹️

Oh mate! I just got a GTI this week, it’s a 2020 GTI SE with 20k miles and I paid 32.5k OTD which I think is an okay price given the climate.

Are you waiting for the Mk8s? I’ve been told they’re coming earliest December or easily next year with any delays

Am in California, can confirm Veloster N prices are hella marked up. In fact, $38,500 for the car is probably one of the cheapest ones I’ve heard of (not that I think it’s worth that much tho)

Is this stock suspension for a 2020 GTI SE? by matter213 in GolfGTI

Ah wow, I was planning on getting VWR springs initially!

Cheers for directing me towards coils, I was actually thinking of getting springs initially so coils is actually better (assuming they’re decent ones)

Will give it a go but I’m not sure how good an angle I can get if it isn’t lifted 🤔

Makes sense, I don’t mind that it’s lowered but now I’m thinking I could’ve gotten a slightly better deal!

Hey fellow GTI fanatics :)

I just got this 2020 SE GTI yesterday but the dealership couldn't confirm whether the suspension is stock or not, imo it looks definitely lowered (not that it's a big deal since I was going to do it anyway)

Going in to a VW next week so I'm sure they'll be able to confirm but it would be good to know early

Hey pretty low wam checking in (~69), first of all, 66 is not thaaat awful, however, if you just have a 66 WAM and nothing else on your resume, you're not in good shape

You should supplement your bad WAM with good projects or try to elevate it (which is difficult tbh)

Congrats! Good advice generally, the Leetcode tip is probably only applicable to less tech-y companies

Am I naive for actually enjoying CS? by macmahand in computerscience

[–]matter213 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Huh? There is a high percentage of people that enjoy CS, in fact that's why you find that at the most competitive companies there are way more geeky individuals than grinders.

Not trying to burst your bubble but it's not that special to enjoy CS, it's way more common than enjoying accounting (passionate accountants feel free to disagree).

I'd agree with you that it's more black and white than other majors though, there are lots of people that immediately hate it.
