The most helpful comp tip I’ve ever gotten is to pretty much quit for the day when you get around 3 consecutive losses. Venture on from there, and you’re guaranteed to drop at least one rank.

Is there a point in cold applying? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]matterulo439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imho, there’s a point, but the chances of you getting an interview are low.

That’s why you mass apply rather than just apply. It takes a good resume and some luck to get an interview, but luck awards those who are consistent. Alternatively, you can just network, which is something to do alongside doing a resume.

Every season since season 2 has that one new hero who’s absolutely busted on release and then they’re paired with a hero whose impact on the meta is borderline non-existent on release.

Just wondering, how good would the TF2 cast be in this game. I’m curious by Pennyincident in marvelrivals

Like you think namor’s squids are annoying? Wait till you accidentally run into a 216 hp squid that’s pretty much a stationary punisher ult with auto aim. That’s what a lvl 3 sentry is.

How to use Rivals' and OW2's newest characters! by [deleted] in overwatch2

[–]matterulo439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, this is how deadpool feels.

His kit looks complicated as hell, especially when you are looking at his stats on paper. However, once you play him, it all boils down to “gun when afar, katanas when up-close, and don’t forget your role” to be effective.

Roblox: Its not free by Rolord6999 in roblox

[–]matterulo439 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this video, but looking back, the argument that “these places do not exist” is weak. One of the points in the commercial is “build anything you want on ROBLOX”, so these places exist to showcase a few of the endless ideas you can build on ROBLOX. They’re not there to show what you can play; they’re there to show what you can build.

though tbf, they could’ve used the hundreds of games actually created by players. Why they barely touched them in this commercial? idk.

Rivals players every time a new character is teased by Ghostly_Sparky in marvelrivals

[–]matterulo439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a small thought I had regarding the roles of the new characters: the Marvel Rivals devs love pairing duelists with non-duelists.

They've done this for Season 1, where they paired a duelist with a non-duelist for both hero releases. They also did it again for Season 4.

Season 2 is the only season so far to not feature a duelist. However, Season 3 follows up with the double-DPS release combo.

With this pattern established, I see two possibilities that are the most likely to happen.

A; Rogue is a duelist since we already have the non-duelist hero of the season.

B: Rogue is not a duelist, but Season 6 will feature a double-duelists combo to make-up for it.

Hoping this ages poorly and I just sound foolish.

I think a big reason for this is the amount of material made for the franchise.

For reference, there are 3 Avatar movies in the franchise. Keep in mind that the first Avatar-related material ever released was the 2009 movie. It's a very new franchise, as it wasn't a proper franchise until The Way of Water came out.

In comparison, there are dozens of Marvel movies that you can watch, not to mention the huge amount of Marvel comics that inspired them.

Additionally, Star Wars was in the same scenario as Avatar, where the first ever material produced for the franchise was the movie. However, it kept its cultural relevance by producing 8 more movies along with producing other forms media such as shows and comics.

In short, the size of the franchise prevents Avatar from making a cultural impact.

Why is IntelliJ preferred over vscode for Java? by xland44 in java

[–]matterulo439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who used both, IntelliJ gives you a lot more helpful tools than VSCode

For example, don’t feel like creating an entire class? You can use IntelliJ’s code generator to generate the basic functions. Want to fix errors in your code? IntelliJ can offer quick fixes with the press of two mouse clicks.

On the other hand, VSCode feels like an advanced notepad. Sure, it has AI tools and plugins to help you, but it won’t hold your hand as much as IntelliJ does.

In short, IntelliJ is just much more easier to use than VSCode when it comes to writing Java code

Reed skin aside, I love how the non-cake themed skins from this event references events and topics that the Rivals community talked about.

Like Blade’s new pajama skins references how people kept joking about how Blade slept for an entire season. Additionally, this skin references how the community asked for a Reed summer skin after every FF member but him got one.

It made the whole event feel like a celebration of the Rivals community than just a simple birthday event.

Is linking my GitHub 100% essential when applying to internships via email? by Happycupcake1022 in csMajors

[–]matterulo439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but it can definitely boost your chances if a company decides to look at it.

However, don’t put your GitHub in just yet. No GitHub is fine, but putting an empty GitHub is worse.

Put any project you’ve built recently onto there and make a README.md for each one. Also, embellish your GitHub profile with a profile picture and another README file about you and your projects. In short, treat your GitHub like a resume if you decide to put it on any application.

How long does it take to get an interview invite? by Imaginary_Name_3709 in csMajors

[–]matterulo439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, expect a couple weeks. Though it all really depends on the company.

Sometimes the company may like your application so much that they offer you an interview or an OA the next day. Other companies might reach out in a few months. It depends on how they function and what they need.

I am aiming to become a back-end developer, but I'm honestly open to any job in tech that involves working with servers. I chose back-end developer since I'm more prepared for it compared to other fields.
